I agree, technically very impressive and cool art-direction ... this title has potential. Let's hope, it will deliver!

I fear it will have a 'perfect' dark framerate

 well it still has the chance of being at Halo-level of framerate... that never lowered scores on reviews, let's see if it can hinder reviews now... ;) probably will, since for some reason Xbox games are "justified" for having crappy framerates.....

i almost bought a [new console] this weekend, thank god my best friend stopped me when i was taking out my credit card :D
i mean GC at £99 with 2 free games just looked sooooo tempting

The soldier in the pic with the receding hairline almost looks real. From the movies it looks like KZ is running at a fast framerate which is kinda surprising.

A lot has been made of a technique guerilla use to draw many layers of small textures to get extra detail on the character models but the helghast don't look detailed up close, just drab. The bald guy looks a lot better so hopefully they will improve this, im getting tired of boring grey/'washed out' look that a lot of PS2 games have.

 .....adn he stopped you picking up that bargain?????????

The vids and those screens look good, but I still can't see what exactly is supposed to be so marvelous about the game. I find it very hard to share the major excitement about this game considering the lack of any solid information besides a few rumors and screenshots. So far it looks to shape up like any average PC shooter these days judging by the media released, maybe with a more focused art direction but even that is hard to judge by the lack of varied material. If it wasn't for the fancy masks and slight SF architecture, these shots might as well be taken out of some tom clancy tactical shooter.

The outdoor screenshots have some nice foliage but so far are almost all severly lacking in the range of sight department. Chrome had great foliage AND huge range of sight and still was a stinker. The indoor screenshots show little else than industrial/warehouse/military base type structures seen a million times before. Chaser takes place in similar locations, has significantly less low-res textures and still is a barely above average shooter.

I have no doubt this could turn out to be an excellent or even must have game, but except for this vague "halo killer" hope of some people, I see nothing YET to really base such hopes on. I'd like more gameplay information and footage before buying into any of the hype surrounding the game...

Most comments in this thread were based on the new revealed footage and NOT on previous hype. Please don't bring up the "halo killer" story again, nothing good will come from that.

Your friend stopped you buying a GC with 2 games at so cheap a price... and you still consider him your friend? Go, go now. Go and purchase this bargain before it's too late.

Well, I guess you answered your own question. The level of animation quality, attention to detail, and art direction in this game, seems to be on the whole other level from those two mediocre games you mentioned.

Gollum:

what i know:

-The gun-design is very good and its execution code is very good allready. The whole feels truly more weighted in Reality.

-Will run 60fps most of the time (probably average margin actual tolerence level : 8/10 % ).

As an artist ,i find what i know of their pipeline to be a very clever and interesting ,a very ps2 -centric approach through low-rez small maps, high polycount, then they work the display with controled layers of filtering, such: detail map ,frame buffer treatment ,Hdr,...

-LOD everywhere (both geometry and texturing )
-Levels are streamed seemlessly.

BUT:

- it still can be a pretty conventionnal FPS with low convincing AI

Sold for me (read IMHO )

Very nice atmosphere they've created even in those short clips. I like the deign of the tank with four barrels in one of the screen shoots reminisent of the apc in Aliens, oh yeah, very futuristic and stylish. The weapon design and animation seem to be very good also, you can see discarded ammo casing being ejected into the air, so much detail. :)
