ITAGAKI Clarifies X360 More Powerful Than PS3 in Interview Pt. 2

Surprise!!! Funny he has nothing to say about the game itself, which is arguably a much better GAME than any DOA game ever created by any standard except graphics maybe, which hardly matters when playing the game.
The guy's a joker.

Like you said earlier in another thread, that is completely subjective. I've played Tekken up to and including III on PS1&2 and played DOA 3 on XBOX. And I'd prefer DOA over Tekken any day of the week.

IMO, the only thing Tekken has that DOA doesn't is insane combos/special moves, and you'll never get to use any of those against any human player that has just a little amount of skill. - In anything else DOA wins.

Cheers

Off topic, but is it only me that sees a lot of internet abbreviations as totally pointless? I mean, from 'j/k' to 'joke' is one letter. Is it REALLY that much harder to type the full word?

The guy is only going by the man's history. The man said he maxed out the PS2 with hardcore...and we know how much of that is true...so pardon me if I'm skeptic about anything ITAGAKI says about "system power". He maybe telling the truth(or not), but his reputation was tanted on other consoles with his past comments, so really I can't give him the respect of his comments as someone like Kojima or other multi-console developers comments.

Like I said many times before...I'm only taking these "which consoles is more powerful" comments with a grain of salt...BUT I would love to see those RSX specs tho...I say, put this thread in the PR thread and leave it be. I'll let the other developers and their games speak for themselfs...

Exactly.

Let me answer for Itagaki. I'm his publicist and need to clarify his statement:

"Ok Ok Ok! PS3 is more powerful than x360 especially for games like Tekken which cant be done on a x360."

That should shut this thread down now.

EDIT: LOL :p

Outside his company they should not have. I think we would ALL agree that there are PS2 games that look better than competing Xbox games. Power is completely relative to your skill, limitations, and task. I think as recent example of this is the Burnout games. I have not played them, but the concensus is the PS2 version looks better.

hmmm...

Gamespot "burnout:revange" review

"..Both the PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions look fantastic, but if you're choosing between the two, the Xbox version is the one to get. Visually, the game's crisper on the Xbox..."

I said I had not played the game ;) I was basing that off some comments of reviews on the forum.

Anyhow, I don't trust anything GP says after rating Half-Life 2 lower than 2 FPS (and tied with one) last year--complained the entire review about the game--and then made HL2 the FPS of the year.

How can you complain at now end about a game, give 3 other games equal or higher reviews, and then say it is better than the others? I don't trust them :devilish:

Acert to be fair, i too thought Burnout looked better on the Ps2 BASED on what Gafers were saying. Well....i played the 2 versions, and Ps2 only has more exagerated sparks, the rest is much crisper on the Xbox.

Of course only recently i've come to know just how biased Gafers can be torwards to Sony.

I mean it doesn't even make sense, the guys at criterion said they were using about 70% of the PS2 power and 40% of the Xbox power.

Regarding Itagaki's comments, you may think that he thinks this now, but he is like this since DOA3, when he said in interviews, power is only as good as the tools for the system, it doesn't matter if you have all this power if you can't use it, one of the big reasons he prefered Xbox and DC over the Ps2 was the ease of DEv. The tools, the firmware and all that crap.

Sorry?! How pooey is that, using only 40% of a console's potential? Why go public with that information?

98% of cross platform games look better on the XBOX, I don't know how much more conclusive you can get than that. I mena it's great to be polically correct, but sometimes it's a little much.

Take a look at Splinter Cell: CT on XBOX, and the mess that was to be created for PS2, XBOX version score a 9 in GFX while the PS2 version scored 7. On the other hand, burnout scores a 9 on both systems.

This is why Itagaki hates Namco.

XBN: Youa??ve made some harsh comments in the past about Tekken. Do you regret saying these things?

Itagaki: Tekken 1 was good. Tekken 2 was better, and Tekken 3 even better than that. My family are big fans of Tekken 3! But Tekken was just did not push the genre at all. Such lazy development, it really annoys me. I do respect what the AM2 team did with Virtua Fighter 4. I am a fan of simplification, and I liked that they tried to increase the mass appeal of the game by cutting out one button. But DOA3 is still a better game.

XBN: Still, youa??ve made some harsh comments in public about the games that pretty much founded the genre. Do you consider it normal practice to slag off your competitors?

Itagaki: Let me tell you the real story with that. Back when the original DOA came out, Namco aired a radio commercial -- they insulted my series. As the father of DOA, I will never forget an insult to my family. I will get them back with nuclear missiles more than 100 times for that. I will never forget it.

Perfect quote. One quote that I 100% agree with Scooby on.

Wow. Some people don't know when to let a grudge go. I guess this as a Japanese Family Honour thing and he's honour-bound to assassinate the family of those who insulted his family. Though I'd appreciate him using Katanas and Shuriken rather than nukes.
