Is Crysis max'd out the benchmark for Xbox3 and PS4?

Look back on history.

PS1, launched in 1994 with 3D graphics. Now take the best looking PC game of 1994/1995 and then compare it to a PS2 game. PS2 games look and perform alot better.

PS2, launched in 2000, now take the best looking PC game at the time. Do PS3 games look better? YES.

PS3, launched in 2006, now take the best looking PC game ( Crysis ) will PS4 games look better?? I know what my answear is ;)

Yes i took a closer look i can spot many flaws in your screens too but i still don't find them to be an accurate representation of the game like non dowscaled pictures

This is a silly excuse, upload the picture at the original resulution like i did.

Don't Be A Douche Bag

You have no credit to my eyes and posting downscaled screens is not really a good way to build one.

Like i said, not perfectly legit in my opinion because they are downscaled.

Well if it have been aknowledged that Crysis has some low-res textures this is one of the reason of why if next next gen systems will have Crysis graphic i will be disappointed, what i am expecting from next next gen systems are high poly models and NO LOW RES TEXTURES AT ALL.

Photobucket only allows 1024x768 resolution as max if you are not a "gold member" so you better check such stuff up before telling others that it´s a silly excusion to not post 1280x1024 screenhots, I know this because I use photobucket aswell and I´m not a "gold member" because it costs.
You must understand that Nebula can´t post non-dowsnscaled screenshots (unles he is a member on another site that allows him to) because photobucket doesn´t allow him to.

Rememeber that AF makes the textures sharper on longer distances.;)
And Crysis already has high-poly characters ( they look amazing!) but I assume you want higher.

Let's revisit this example :
bullshot.jpg

The retail game is out and I am still waiting for screen shots that look like the first picture.

Roks are in 3d it's just the textures that are not really good.

Anyway i could sweat it was on very high you have to show me a non donwscaled screen on the same situation with better rocks if you want to have a point.

I did take some screens at 1600x1200 you got a problem with that ? I need to know how the game performs on different resolutions.

I think what Nebula ment was that if you are using 1920x1200 then you are probably using a wide-screen monitor and then he thought it was strange that you were using 1600x1200 because that´s isn´t a wide-screen resolution.

PeterNorth you are not playing on Very high settings, you maybe have been tricked by the game settings or something but you are not playing on very high settings.

I took this two screenshot from my computer, they are both on very high settings DX9 which means that they are not "real" very high settings( they are a bit lower than very high settings) and I´m playing at a resolution of 1280x1024 so my screenshot are a bit downscaled because I use Photobucket to upload my screenshots.
NOTICE: that the textures are a bit blurry on longer distances because AF is disabled.

PeterNorths screenshot at "Very high":

My screenshots at Very high:

Enjoy:D

Yep posted non-scaled 1280*1024 images, follow the link to the right forum part! ;)

Wow, there are so many free ways to upload a life :

www.mediafire.com
www.rapisdhare.com
www.megaupload.com

Yes, it is an incredibly silly excuse, if he wants to upload an uncompressed full res screen to make a comparison, he can.

No it is not when I want to have those ss permanently stored at the site. With Imagehack they are taken down after bandwidth limit is exceeded, I suspect it is the same for the others unless one pays for a subscription. Also Imagehack is allowing only 1.5MB images so far for the ss uploadedin the link (but it is enough).

Thats pretty much the same. The guy tweaked some lighting settings to get it looking like that so its simply a matter of the choice the artists made. A wrong choice? Perhaps, but given how spectacular the game looks as it is I can't say I really have a problem.

I don't really see the point in this whole discussion. This is what the game looks like:

Crysis01.jpg

Why are people wasting time moaning about the odd low res texture when the overall effect looks like that?

I understand a game like Crysis will draw nitpickers but this kind of attitude is pretty lame really. I mean, you can nitpick any game to death, but reading some of the posts here you would think Crysis is the only game out there with minor graphical flaws. Lets just be thankful people don't do this with every new game release!

(That wasn't aimed at you btw JL)

Amazing textures and shaders, that´s how they look!:D

I agree.

If you want to upload a screen to make a fast comparison, you can do it for free, you have no excuse.

As said in the other thread if i can be a non-paying member of the service rpovided by the othersites to host images then I'll take a look at them. But so far Photobucket allows me to store my ss permanent I dont get that option when just uploading images on other sites without being member. And some require you to pay membership for uploading higher-res images.

As you understand ifyou think a little more you see that the images are in my sig and created some time ago to be permanent. But why are you continuing on this when i have already in that link of my post provided 1280*1024 images on Imagehack for temp comparision?

A grainy horribly compressed YouTube video isn't really telling me much. The SS of the retail version of Crysis look much flatter and washed out than the original media. Some of this may be correctible from tweaking the present technology, but it seems it is a combination of a lot of factors: HDR contrast, plant glossiness and transparency, shadows and shadow contrast, ambient lighting model, and so forth. Maybe those can all be tweaked to get the same effect (any HD pics to prove this?), but it seems odd Crytek would adjust the lighting to clearly downgrade the lighting quality.

I will agree that the YouTube video does give some better contrast than many other shots have and that the swaying of trees is nice. But the IQ and fidelity are so low you cannot really say it is the same. It could simply be he adjusted the histogram for lighting but did nothing about how flat the vegitation looks compared to the original media--and it really does, almost lifeless, whereas the original shot has nice glossiness and transparency to the plant leaves on top of nice HDR highlights and nice lighting/shadowing contrast.

I don't really see the point in this whole discussion. This is what the game looks like:

The game looks great. I am just dissappointed that it doesn't look like the original media, and CryTek has indicated lighting patches are in the works, which makes me think some things got the axe.

MGS4, Gears of War, Halo 3, Perfect Dark Zero, MotorStorm, Resistance... yeah, they pretty much ALL get this treatment.

Theres a link to the original thread on the youtube page were the guy posts about his mods. I think there is a high def video in there (I haven't looked at it myself).

What he does post in there though are the settings he changed to get the effect. I tried them out in the sandbox and its pretty impressive. Problem is you absolutely need the trees to filter out the sunlight as that level of glare doesn't work in open spaces. Thats probably part of the reason why it was changed in retail. Obviously the lighting is changable per map so i'm hoping the retail version will feature similar lighting on some maps with denser jungle.

EDIT: Here's a link to the higher res video

Crysis looks great, but cmon people, use some common sense. Of course next gen consoles 4-5 years from now will be able to run Crysis.

I think it will ( Todays PCs are already running it :D )but the interesting parts is:
Will they be able to run Crysis with the extra features that will come with a patch?
We can only speculate.

Thanks for the link! By the way he has uploaded the modified map on the last page..w00t!

Wait hold the phone, you say you have taken the ss you posted (1920*1200) yet the link goes to WoundingChaneys account and he is a member here! care to explain if it is your ss in reality?

Downscaling the pic makes it look a lot better then it really is.

This is a downscaled screen of Crysis running at high/very high @1600x1200 max detail it looks very great :

This is the original 1600 x 1200 screen :

In the original screen you can spot low res textures here and there, for example on the ground, where in the downscaled screen everything look high res.
