Iraq war wasn't justified, UN weapons inspectors say

I think that says more than Baradaei and Blix (who, btw, has a book...;))

Iraq war wasn't justified
so removing a dictator and mass murder and liberating millions doesn't justify a war .

Is that good enough in and of itself as a reason? Certainly. Was that what the administration pushed onto the american public as the reason we were going to war? No.

WMD WMD WMD WMD WMD. And a sprinkling of terrorist ties. But generally, WMD WMD WMD WMD WMD.

No you don't see anti-war rallies and parades. You just see attacks on our soldiers and bombings. :(

Here we go again. If removing a dictator was the initial justification for the invasion, we wouldn't even be having this discussion.

LOL at Russ' Blix book comment.

You sure about that?

(Actually, it turns out this was March 19. Same difference, though).

Yep, the weekend starts on Fridays, at least in my mind. I wish Bush had gone in with the "We're taking out a dictator." line. It would have gone over sooo much better. Same people would be saying US shouldn't police the world, but less people would be yelling at us.

It's not up to you decide if Iraq is liberated it's up to Iraqi's . I can guarantee they don't feel liberated. I'm glad a mass murderer is gone however. We should have taken him out in the 80's when he gassed Iranians OFFENSIVELY , which is a war crime. We should have also taken out the governments of 40-50 other countries that suppressed and murder their own people in mass. Unfortunately, we are hypocrites , and that is precisely why we are hated so.

Doesn't mean that all the other countrys that hate us for being hypocrites aren't in fact hypocrites.

Countrys love to get our goods , our jobs , aid from us and then they call us bastards .

If it was up to me i'd pull aid going to every country and pull troops from every outpost and say fuck you world . But you know what. They'd prob turn around and say we are so bad because we aren't helping them .

Governments have to be hypocrites. If they weren't they wouldn't function. jvd makes a good point saying that the people who are calling us hypocrites have hypocrite governments. It's just the way of human nature.
We have to be hypocrites to a degree.

You forget most of those nations who call us hypocrits have longer lists of human rights violations and crimes against humanity then Saddam himself. There inlies the irony. Europe for instance has as long a beneficial history has it does a destructive one. Many of the world's problems that exist to this date have their origins in European colonialism.

I haven't looked at the various lists myself. Wouldn't surprise me. Human nature, and I hate it.

Never mind what other countries are saying, thats small potatoes.

Bush apparently misled the country and now there is good reason to believe he did this intentionally.

Apparently there was no intelligence that linked AQ to Iraq either.

No we'd be having a discussion about the US's role in policing the world

Again, the discussion wouldn't revolve around whether or not the American people were intentionally misled. Rather significant difference, don't you think?

No, I think we'd have essentially the same conversation.
