Interfacing Thunderbird mail client externally

I have a Logitech G15 keyboard and it has a POP3 e-mail connector on it.
I want to use Thunderbird's controls, junk filter, etc... in a little daemon of my own and I'm wondering does Thunderbird allow for such a thing easily?

To be clearer:
I want my program to interface with Thunderbird without opening up Thunderbird's GUI.
