I heard on the grapevine, so treat this with a grain of the usual, the print heads are actually fabricated from silicon in much the same way as chips <shrug>.

I assume the manufacturing cost would still be extremely high for such technology to become mainstream anytime soon?

Current i945 platform is not perfect but still, it seems to be powerful enough to run many rather "new games" on highest settings possible. GMA950 is not all that weak really.
1024x600 resolution is helping a bit on netbooks but still...
