IGN's Take On PS3

Actually, wether it's a fact or not, we don't know what's going on, so if the issue continues and CoD3 on the PS3 is a failure, it is also a possibility that the computer (PS3 is a computer ;)) has a faulty processor, memory bus, etc.

Hey man, pass the crack pipe. Why the fuck do people think that a product going to ship next month has failures/will fail running heavy games? Yes, it is a computer.. you don't hear of computers fucking up that often or even ICs in every product. Oh noes my calculator broke because I tried to divide a number by 0.

As it stands now, the game is a failure because it cannot be played in all its glory, and there's no excuse for that.

No, it will still sell on the 360. 360 is also a different architecture to the PS3 which I suspect has something to do with it (CoD2 = 360, CoD3 = 360 + PS3, same engine? Too few optimisations?)

uhh...what?

In that case, I think you are blaming the wrong person then.

I'm not sure if you are serious or joking actually.
I am not joking, on paper PS3 is a competent gaming machine, and it is able to run CoD3 at 60 fps. I don't like to repeat things I've already said (thrice?).

And I've already told you why the PS3 version is probably not up to par with the 360 version. This is really going no where, and fast.

Did CoD2 have AA on Xbox 360?

No, CoD 2 on Xbox 360 does have no HDR, no AA, no AF and is not running at 60fps (VSync off with heavy tearing and framerate drops, 60fps are reached, but only when absolutely no action is going on, e.g. when you look at the skybox otherwise the framerate is extremly unsteady).

Smells like flamebait ;)

Developpement process on console A may not be as smooth as console B for a veriety of reasons. One reason (just supposition) is that devs may have had a 360 kit for longer time pre-launch than a PS3 kit. The Cell is also new tech, so the learning curve may be a bit steep. Another factor is that if CoD3's renderer was written in D3D for PC (which I'm 90% sure of) then it will be MUCH easier to port to the 360. Much of the renderer can be reused. On PS3, I think (again 90% sure) they'd need to rewrite most of that part of the engine.

This is all supposition mind-you, and I'm not saying we'll see 60fps on PS3, but it's still pretty clear to me that there are a veriety of reasons why a port would be slower, or would take longer to optimize in the dev process, even if both consoles are more-or-less on-par with each-other.

A statement like yours screams bias.

I hope that suspicion of yours isnt a result from a certain Inquirer claim some time ago

That is complete and utter bullsh*t. Vsync is ON. There are rarely if ever framedrops. The game is a STEADY 60fps during actual gameplay with slight hiccups every now and then. There is AA and there is HDR and 2xAF. Just to prove you wrong here's a 60fps video of someone actually playing the game with a silky smooth framerate and hardly if any hiccups:

The game sure did look good, though. It didn't look qualitatively better than the Xbox 360 version we've spent a lot of time with, though we noted the frame rate was consistent throughout our entire demo. That's because the many cores of the PS3's Cell processor are handling different parts of the game discretely, which apparently gives the developers more breathing room to implement various visual and aural effects without worrying about dragging down the frame rate too much.

Call of Duty 3 seems to be shaping up nicely on every platform, so diehard fans of this popular World War II series will serve themselves well to check it out on their console platform of choice. The PlayStation 3 version in particular is currently slated to hit shelves on the system's launch date, November 17th, so stay tuned for a full review.
Sounds like a newer build than the one Mattcassamasina (did I spell that right?) played, although again the final game will be the final telling.

Now here's a silly idea. Let's just wait untill both versions are released so we can look for the differences on both platforms ourselves.

Damn, I've been following this game for a long time and I have seen dozens of screenshots and the only thing I can conclude is... that CoD3 will probably look better on a PS3/x360 than on a Wii. :???:
