"When you see the 360 version and you see the PS3 right next to it and 360 is by and large looking better." Call Of Duty 3.

"(Marvel Alliance) is running in 1080P on the PS3 which is cool but it was also running much slower, the framerate was not nearly as nice."

"(PS3) may not have a very strong line up...but you can go back and play a great majority of the PS1 and PS2 games.."

"I dont think there is a reason to rush out and pick up a PS3...unless you are one of those types of people..."

"Resistance is it for the Playstaion 3"

I think it's episode 29

Hmmm... this sounds like all the past "news" from the last month in one post. Is there anything new here?

Btw, what were the positives?

The positives are the long line for pre-orders.

Backwards compatibility that helps with lack luster launch lineup (which is a plus for me. FFXII FTW!)

Resistence is looking amazing.

Care to comment on what IGN is saying on IGN Weekly?
If you really want me to...

Honestly, I'm not surprised about COD3. For example, when people compare fight night 3 ps3 to fight night 360, they point to the extra development time (which for the most part is true). Same thing here really. COD2 was on the 360 a year ago, and COD3 is a continuation of the engine on the platform so theres no reason it shouldnt be more optimized.

I think its safe to say resistance is the big title that overshadows every other title so I see no problem with the "Resistance is it for the Playstaion 3" comment. Though it seems the quote is out of context. In the discussion he makes it sound like it's the title, but not the only title, but the largest title by far. Though something out of context is something to expect from gaf or oa, so no surprise there.

As for the "(PS3) may not have a very strong line up...but you can go back and play a great majority of the PS1 and PS2 games.." comment.. isnt that the case with all launches, usually very lackluster compared to the year(s) ahead of it. I see this as a positive, I can enjoy my new ps3 games, and enjoy my old+new ps2 games without some iffy backwards compatibility emulation (sorry Microsoft). The ps2 is far from dead so thats a very good thing for ps3 owners.

Matt Cassamassina is a laughable character from what I can see on the show, seems like a very pro-Wii guy who doesnt change his mind much. Didnt seem he wanted to mention that the PS3 version of marvel is planning to pick up the framerate, which seemed to be his only grudge against the game.
At this stage of development the Wii and 360 versions held a steadier framerate than what was being shown on the PS3, but they are a bit farther along. The Wii and 360 versions were playing off of their test kits while the PS3 was still running on a development kit. Also with the PS3 version running in 1080p it was pushing the engine a bit harder. By release we were told to expect each version to be running at a stable framerate.
Kinda OT but I'm wondering about his 7-9 million Wii's comment, if nintendo can get that many out @ launch...then wow.

As for the show as a whole, it would be better if it were longer to take it even more seriously. A 10 minute roundtable discussion is hardly enough time to get into the beef of things. I prefer the 1up show/yours much more.

Seems like the thread is focused on the negatives, there were some positives as well. But I guess that doesnt matter much on GAF/OA. Quotes of flamebait if you ask me.

but yeah, hope I covered all the bases.

People see what they want to see. But I don't see how these in particular were overly negative comments:

Resistance looks amazing, BC is a plus, MA was running at 1080p. It was a mixed bag of opinions really.

Eh, lack luster? looks great to me. Could very well be one of the best launch lineups ever (until the Euro PS3 launch :)), as with Wii.

IMO
-Best basketball game ever NBA 2K7 (already proven - 360 version)
-Best boxing game ever FN:Round 3 (already proven - 360 version)
-A great RPG, TES: Oblivion (already proven - 360 version)
-Resistance, we all know how that's shaping up.
-CoD2 was great, so signs are looking good that CoD3 wiil be also (regardless of graphics diferences)
-Rainbow Six looks great
-Some decent racers in Ridge Racer 7, and NFS: Carbon

There's a few other launch titles that i'd like to try, that look like they could offer some decent gameplay, eg. Ultimate Alliance, TH: Project 8...etc.

Obviously alot are on/will be on the 360 platform also, but really, that shouldn't take away from the fact they're decent games, and are actually launch titiles. Not everyone has a 360. (I do , but i'll be grabbing PS3 versions of multi platform games, alternate controls/free online FTW)

I was just saying a couple of the quotes seem out of context and make positives into negatives, not to mention the lack of the full story on Matt C's part (not anyone here's fault).

After watching the show, I thought it was only a matter of few minutes before people would question Matt's credibility. Classical fallacy, ad hominem.

IGN seems to be more negative on PS3 out of any other game media site. 1UP, GameSpot, etc. all seem very positive and happy with PS3.

It's hard to listen to this Matt C guy. His reputation hurts his credibility, for me at least.

Theres just somethign wrong- because the ps3 editors said the COD3 for PS3 looked great and promising and at the time was t 30FPS while 360 at 60FPS I wouldve thot that because of the graphic enhancements on the PS3 version is the reason its at 30FPS maybe im wrong?

All I know is that other sites have said complete opposite how the PS3 looked just jaw dropping and was great and some games blew the 360 away and some said they looked very equal. I think IGN has some odd ends to pull up for sure. Gamespot said PS3 versions looked great.

Who knows who to beleive. I think right now we dont know whos being biased, unbiased, being paid off, not being paid who the hell knows what. Its a dirty game there playing and we have to wait.

First of all COD3 looks better on the xbox360 AND runs better. There are no graphics enhancements on the ps3 version,it has actually worse graphics. It was also on Edge magazine about how COD3&RS:V look much better on the 360.

What sites have said that games like COD3 looked better on the ps3??Some didn't say they looked "very equal",some said that the 360 versions blow the ps3 away. Are you even talking about COD3 ,exclusive games, what??You've lost me there.

Gamespot said ps3 versions look great but it didn't compare them with xbox360 versions.

"being paid off"??Oh that's funny.Whenever a positive for the ps3/negative for the xbox360 comment is being made i don't read such things afterwards but when something positive is being said for the xbox360,then we have philosophical argumenets about who is "being paid off".

Anyway COD3 for the xbox360 looks amasing. Here's a movie for anyone that doubts that:

For the record, it's been stated before that 1) the PS3 version had (better lighting /or/ more lights), and 2) supposedly "better shaders." Now, whether the latter was true, whether either one is still true now, and whether one version looks better/worse than the other because of/regardless of those things are all up for debate. But please, just try to tone it down a little.

The "better shaders" thing came from a comment from an anonymous developer that has nothing to do with COD3.The "extra lights" thing was just PR and laughable PR at that.

Anyway the game will be released in a few weeks and we'll see who is right and who is wrong. When the game is released there will be nothing "up for debate",there will be a big difference between the 2 version in BOTH graphics and frame rate.Which version will be the best??We'll see.....

It came from the developer if I recall correctly. Did you read this from teamxbox? Perhaps they twisted things to make it look better for your views like they always do. ;)

Add the quote right here where it was said by anonymous developer please.

I read it from Gaf in fact and it was from a developer that had nothing to do with COD3.Maybe you should add the quote,i have nothing to prove and i didn't bring these comments in this thread anyway.

The game will be out in a few weeks and all will become clear, anyway. The difference will be there and it won't be "small".

Didn't they use the word should when stating that? I believe it was their original plan to enhance the lighting engine on PS3, not that they had done it yet... Still too early to say wheter the PS3 version has the enhanced lighting system implemented or not. I think we have to wait for a proper preview of the games or just do the simple thing and wait for the games to get released.
