As the article does not contain any details about this research, a short summary of how this came about: A few years ago mr Moeleker, who is conservator for the 'Natuurmuseum' in Rotterdam, was startled by a loud crash while at his place of work. It turned out that a male mallard duck that had been trying to evade another pursuing duck had smashed into on of the museum windows. As the conservator rushed to preserve the deceased duck for the museum's collection, he was witness to a remarkable spectacle. The second duck that had chased the mallard to its death proceeded to mount the corpse and have intercourse with it for no less than an hour and 15 minutes.
