IGN: after 1 year; Where art thou ray traced games

And when the ball-n-chain of cross-gen is removed, maybe it'll be exciting.

How long is this cross-gen crap gonna go on for?
Inability for current-gen gamers to transition due to the Silicon Shortage will keep the old machines active longer than usual. Coupled with ease of supporting cross-gen thanks to engines used and architectural similarities, it's in pretty much no-one's interest (development side) to make next-gen only titles.

In short, too long.

So that prolly means meh ray tracing on PS5 for another couple of years then... as it's merely tacked-on. Or even, why bother at all?

we all need to start somewhere. Starting now is ideal to mark the transition period. Next generation should ideally switch over to completed engines all running RT.

For this generation it will be 'meh' (i think its quite ok considering but ok). Next generation engines most likely will be build around RT in mind.

In general, probably until Sony and Ms can get enough consoles out to people to make next gen only games viable on their own
