I see Console forum is becoming less democratic

One page of threads, 10 locked threads (and will probably end up with this one locked as well)

Whats going on, are we running out of relevant content, or are the mods on short triggers?

E3 spawned a whole new generation of newbies who think they're on the IGN boards. This place needs to be under control in times like this when the trolls are out of their caves.

I'll say, my half-assed thread was not up a minute before it was locked. These moderators are on the money no doubt.

I realize the two-way views is what makes this forum so great, so I aploigize. Because whew pcvsconsole. Dang, those cats are a trip. They might as well have a section for PS3 HATE posts. You cant please everyone though, and why lock that last thread. Cant handle a little venting. I guess x-fanboys have to come here to bash, cause PS on top. ANd no one really wanna go to x-box forums to answer to losers. Where;s deaddmeat though. He;s pro-xbox. Woudl be great to see him get up some butts, lol.

Dude, since I posted, your thread WILL get locked I suspect, ah well

Stuff happens

If you acknowledge the fact that the threads you post in get locked, why don't you take the hint?

You either change your childish ways or stop posting. Stuff doesn't happen. People make stuff happen, and maybe it's the people who need to change in order to make things better around here, don't you think? It's not like they get locked cause they're unlucky.

First of all no one is a complete fanatic in these threads. You have preferential disagreements and in saying that I'd probably be a Nintendo f a n b o y Fanboy but...... If anyone does choose to be very vocal about a subject in an inapropriate way, more often then not, they will be ignored. And I should know this, I got nailed for my first post.

So, be tempermental and dont be too extremist, always post with a open mind and you wont have any problems.

(edit: dammit you cant type fanboy)

I dont think there's enough modding at the moment. For a technical forum it seems practically every blinkin' thread ends up with a certain few individuals ranting about how Sony/MS are liars or how we can/can't trust senior quotes.

Take my RSX Tricks thread. How many people have actually got anything to say on the matter? Very few. Talk's off topic. Since E3 and the GAF influx this forum has become much like every other - people regurgitating the same old arguments over and over; even when knowing they won't change the other person's mind they keep talking their points over and over. Why people waste so much time trying to accomplish the impossible is beyond me. Haven't they better things to do with their lives than keep quoting and bolding the same material they've quoted and bolded a dozen times before?

If I were in charge, I'd ban any debate on whether MS/Sony/Nintendo/whoever were lying. Discussion would be technically based. And PR would be discussed on technical merits (if any) and insights to the hardware (if any) and not allowed to be debated on whether it's BS or not. Every other gaming forum on the planet has this type of discussion. Why not leave one place free of the rot so those with a mind to discuss technical points can without their threads getting derailed all the time?

Try talking hardware and console business at the CnVG forums and you hit a brick-wall of ignorance and purility. THAT's the place to take your Sony/MS/Nintendo 'opinions' on what a bunch of lying cheats they all are.

The console forums have had some "troubles" over the last few days. The console forum has become my favorite forum on B3D so I read and lurk here quite often. I don't post often simply because I don't understand most of the technological concepts of the hardware of next-gen consoles. I'm trying to learn some of the more baisc items but it is quite hard to sift through the opinions in the forums and get to the cold hard facts. The problem plaguing the forum is that people aren't discussing the technological aspects of the upcoming consoles. Certain individuals seem to be perfectly content with arguing about PR talk and deciphering who’s is lying and defending their respective companies with an almost obsessive fervor.

I’ll be the first to admit that everyone has their own personal bias but things have gotten seriously out of hand. Nothing in life will be completely objective however, that doesn’t not mean that we should simply let bias run amuck like it is in this forum right now. I would really like to see sine stricter rules enforced or maybe have another mod in the forum.

*Disclaimer* This is my own personal opinion take with heaping buckets of salt.

Quoted for truth.

We need more threads locked and more warnings.

Not to sound to tradition-freaky, but i think in times like this the mods need to make it very hard for dumb newbies to troll, so they just go straight away before they turn into some of the monstruosities we have on here today. Without naming anyone.

I have a feeling that at least some of these "trolls" actually are doing PR, I mean they actually work for the companies.

If I were a PR person , I'd hire people to post on the forums.

In fact I have a great idea! They should hire persons who start as pro competitor, then slowly turn into the other side, i.e. the side they really work for. That wouild be sneaky and I think quite efective :devilish:

I was accused of such on the CnVG forums when I was constantly ttrying to correct people on misconceptions. Describing anything technical on those boards meant you were an FB of whatever hardware you were describing.

B3D is the only board I've found where (some) people can discuss merits and weaknesses of implementations and what the result might be without instantly being a plant of some sort.

That's a guerilla tatic in viral marketing. And it's a reality, not a urban legend. The more the forum is influent/important, the greater are the chances to have a few members who are marketer.

One of the console manufacturer consider viral marketing as a very important part of their marketing plan, BTW.

But in most case, thoses people don't act like 12 years olds. Unlike some of the new members.

We can always delete them instead if you prefer.

It would make things a bit cleaner i must say... Though some of the locked threads do have some good information inside, from before they were turned into flaming battlegrounds by the kids.

EDIT: With the amount of duplicated, triplicated, redundant information on these boards, i think deleting a few threads won't hurt anyone, in fact i think it would only benefit the server.

Tell me about it, I tried to post on the Penny-Arcade forums (don't ask why) and I was litteraly blasted and had my thread closed in approximately 4 minutes. In 4 minutes I had 10 reply's and a locked thread. And they didn't even make any sense, they were short one liners.

B3D has one of the best forums on the Net. Lets keep it that way.

On a side note, I haven't since Vince here in a while.

Contradictory terms. (If you want to see him post more, that is) ;)

It's funny that you brought this up because I've noticed exactly that about some new members here. ;)

It's a sneaky way of gaining credibility as it allows the excuse "I've been a fan of X console in the past, so I'm not biased.". It's the same kind of tactic demonstrated when saying things like "Hey I own X, Y, and Z console therefore I'm neutral." when in fact the person only owns X console and not Y and Z. ;)

Yep, I brought that up just because I had noticed that too ;)

I hate the console warz, you never know who to trust anymore, makes me feel parano:D!
So I only trust the pr that comes from companies dirEct!

I'd like this forum to stay objective, clean, informative, correct, with a minimum of ranting and trolling. However, like london-boy said the console forum board has seen a wave of new members over the past months, and some of them happen to think this is like GAF, IGN or what have you...

Mods should be strict, without spoiling the fun. =)
