Maybe your browser was just acting up? I've been having more stuttering and weirdness on the site for the past few days than usual...PC-Engine said:Hmm...that's mighty strange. I edited my original post because the only thing that was left of Phil's *original* post was this line:
...now his post is back to it's orginal state... :?I doubt it that anyone is interested in what YOU would buy and what not
In a way, they may sell more of that model simply because it's the only one available. Simplifies the process for those people who follow the usual trend; "I want a DVD recorder and have Sony stuff at home... Oh, here it is." Heh. No models to look at and start comparing stuff, which might lead them to comparing to OTHER devices... Who knows?Anyway to sorta get back on topic. I don't think many people will buy the SONY DVD recorders in the US especially when there is only one model in their lineup and it doesn't even have a HDD. Maybe this is because they already have plans for the PSX to be their volume selling DVD recorder?
On an HDD-enabled one, I indeed figure they're waiting on the PSX, as they would splinter and confuse users more if they had a somewhat equivalent-priced HDD-DVD recorder, and they certainly want the PSX to put its best foot forward. The device would get more sales, developers would take more note, and they can market with it better... Since they waited too long to bring out an HDD device anyway, why bother? It would just be more design expense and taking up manufacturing lines to make a device that would conflict with the one they'd like to see succeed much more. Especially since they're offering multiple PSX models anyway. (At least they likely will, ne?)
