How do I xfer a game save to another profile?

Sorry if this has been posted before (I'm pants with searching!).

I started GoW3 on my sons profile and I don't want to start again, so I copied the save to my profile and it won't work...does anyone know if it's possible to transfer the save so I can continue on my profile?

Have you tried copying the save to an external device (such as a USB stick) and then back to the PS3 under your profile?

I seem to recall having to do something similar (copy to external device and then back again) a few years back when I was playing a game under one of my dummy international accounts by mistake.

Just tried with no luck - it says it's not my data...is there a way to put the data on PC and change the owner?

Nope. Ownership is encoded in the save file, and it belongs to that user. I don't think save files are at all editable on PC (at the moment!) to save cheating, because...you know, users using their games to have fun their way just isn't on. All those years I used to hex-edit save fiels and games on PC/Amiga to mod games and make them more fun was plain evil and I should have been arrested. Thankfully I can be locked out of such things these days.

You cant copy saves because it would allow people to be awarded trophies that they didnt earn.

Ah, that may explain why it worked for me all those years back as it was pre-trophy.
