Playing Billiards - i bought my own pool table just to play

Movies - I own 300 DVDs and may buy a a next gen dvd soon

Self teaching guitar - I love the acoustics of a guitar and bough tmyself a Takamine (hey I'm not rich)

Music production - I like hip hop, R&B, country, and jazz music and decided that I could make my own so I bought a drum machine and a keyboard. Along with my core duo laptop I'm coming along nicely....

What are your non-tech hobbies?

Discuss.

well, I would like to learn how to play the violin...
I read lots of novels - Battletech, Shadowrun (they're all old, but I started very late ;))

I watch alot of tv and movies and play guitar.. and listen to alot of music.
Got over 50GB of ripped cds ;)

When I saw that K.I.L.E.R. posted in this thread, I had to read it.

As expected, I was not disappointed.

I project movies at CMU (on film, no less! man it looks so much better than DVD/BRD/HDDVD).

Watching movies, listening music, kite flying (thought haven't touched it since last year), Cricket, Bike Riding....

My hobbies include.....

...reading beyond3d (at 2 hours a day - it begs to be listed as a hobby)!
...I go out a lot - includes nightclubbing, bars, billiard, bowling
...photography
...listen to music (includes various genres from Jpop/rock to Goa, Progressive and other electronic music,
...driving for pleasure in summer (track appearances up next)
...shopping!
...some more nice things in life that include the 'other' sex ;)

Never watch TV but watch a lot of TV series (BSG, Lost, Heroes, Day Break, Jericho, Veronica Mars, Prison Break, Dexter, Studio 60). Have quite an archive as well.

These days I end up spending most time for technical related stuff!

Non-tech hobbies that have survived:

Reading (fiction and non-fiction),
Watching good movies and an occasional anime,
Sketching,
and hanging out at pubs once in a while or trying out various restaurants. (not sure if this counts as a hobby though!)

Must...find...more...free...time.

I tend to switch hobbies/interests like underwear... I honestly wish I could stay more focused and goal-oriented. :-/

The latest hobbies-of-the-week over the last 6 months or so have included:

Baking(!), it's pretty cool, and I *love* freshly baked bread. :) The texture of it... the crust... the smell... the taste... [insert Homer drooling] Almost bought a baking stone on an impulse, even!

Cooking, also pretty cool, but more labour intensive and more expensive, as I tend to (try to)make challenging stuff, just to see if I could do it. But it's only so often I can muster the energy to actually do it.

Picking up a new language, not very successfully as of late, unfortunately. Haven't even decided on which one yet... Russian, Japanese, French, Spanish or Vietnamese(!) have all been candidates. Brushing up on my german have also been on my to-do list.

Documentaries. This is my only really big lasting passion. I often have to be in a certain mood to appreciate a good movie or TV-series, even more so if the movie is mediocre, or else I can't get into it and my mind starts to flutter. Documentaries always seem to work, though...

Playing the guitar. I've just about given up on this one for good. I think I've hit my potential ceiling here. I'm just not getting any better at it, and it's not very good as it stands either... ;)

In my case:

1- Films
2- Reading,
3- Going out to clubs.
4- Learning new languages. Since i already learned english at least decently, now i will start taking japanese clases.
5- New hobbies i want to try are learn how to play either guitar or drum, and start body building to keep myself healthy.

Apart from going to work & the gym/training I do very little! Brace yourselves... I like to read, listen to music, socialise, go to the flicks. So nothing unusual or particularly interesting.

The reason I posted is because reading this made me stop to think. In a weird paradox, I've realised I spend a not inconsiderable amount of time thinking how I'd like to spend my spare time. That includes things like reading reviews of books/films/music and deciding "ooh, I must read/watch/listen to that" (but never actually getting around to it).

I think it's what they call being a little bored with your lot!
