Finally someone has some answers about the X800 AIW, HEXUS finds out why and what:

It's always nice to have a company admit that a product is late, hold their hands up and outwardly say so. When they then go on and outline just why it happened and promise to learn from their mistakes, you get an air of culpability that's extremely rare in this line of business. "We messed up, here's why, we're sure it won't happen again" is rarely heard, but heard it was as I sat down with ATI recently to get the full lowdown on the All-In-Wonder X800 XT, a product that's been on many people's radar since the X800 series of hardware was launched nearly a year ago.
A good read, great job Rys! :D

BTW-

However, if I feed in composite video via the breakout box and display it using MMC, it's not interactive. That is, if I'm feeding in from my PS2, when I control the action on the screen using the controller, there's a couple of seconds of lag before it happens on screen in the scaled window.
I had that problem too, it turned out to be my own fault because I had it in a tape delay mode or something. :? My tv was about 2 seconds behind my wife's behind me on the same channel was the only reason I noticed it.

You can make the feed live, I space how now but I'll mess around with it and figure it out if'n you'd like Rys. :)

CMAN, I think your finger slipped from the ;) to the :) . :p I'm not sure why you'd be willing to "forgive" them so quickly, given we've just come out of their premature XL launch (let's not get into the plain X800, let alone the literally vaporware X700XT).

I remember Dave posted a pic of the purple-icious AIW XT a few months ago, but I didn't realize it was meant to be released soon. (Weren't ATi still having X800P/XTPE availabilty problems at the time?)

Why are ATi still laboring for AIW implementations? Wouldn't it just be easier for them (especially with PCIe about to sweep AGP/PCI) to focus on a separate tuner card that can be upgraded separately from the video card, or are PCIe x16 + PCI MBs still going to be common for a while yet? How well do AIWs sell at retail and to the Dells of the world, anyway?

That'll be the Theater 550 PRO ;) And 200-based AIW + separate 550 PRO (there are both PCIe and PCI versions, too) is a nice combination, with MulTView and certain PVR software setups.

There's a couple of other half-decent AIWs based on X800 on the way too (including the first desktop use of a one-quad R420, which is the X800 AIW LE).

I never said I forgave them for anything. I purchased a 6800 GT instead of a X800 Pro. For me that is punishment enough since I didn't give them my money. Doesn't mean I won't get excited about new products if and when they come out. I'm still waiting for the HD All-In-Wonder, but after hearing about their problems with this card, I fear an HD AIW is farther off than I thought.

I forgave Nvidia for their FX series (never got my 5800 Ultra from Best Buy but I think that turned out for the better  ), and I'll forgive ATI if they produce new products that are available and good by purchasing the new product.
