This could easily have happned after saddams fall. Or been done without the regimes knowledge. AQ is not some set institution. You and your buds could 'join up' and print stuff off the web and become in effect a 'cell' overnight.

I rather think we could find Al-Qaeda weapons caches in the US, too.

Meanwhile, Iraq is rather "the place to be" for all types of insurgents. The "party town" if you will, only with rocket launchers instead of streamers.
