That is very very impressive. More ps2 games should use it. But thats not it, Ubisoft is pulling other tricks:

Well, so the characters arent exactly top of the line, but those special effects impress.

Look at the wall and ceilling, almost looks like that crazy voodoo that Unreal 3 pulls of on the brick wall (Displacement mapping :?: )

I wonder what if a Developer tried as hard on the xbox as some do on the ps2, what kind of graphics could we be looking at :!:

Anyway...just tought they had some cool stuff running on the Ps2-

Yeah we had a thread about this a while ago with a video showing these effects. I was impressed but some others weren't so impressed if I remember correctly. Nice pics anyway, I wonder if they'll put any effort what so ever into the GC version..

Well the GC is a port of the ps2 version, so i guess the GC will be at least as good looking as that.

i'm excited for this game on all platforms... it looks absolutely GREAT on PS2!

Hopefully it pushes the genre forward like the original SC did.

Any chance of vsync on the PS2 version? The Xbox demo (and the pervious two on Xbox) were rather dissapointing due to the tearing.

Finally watched that video and the water looks very good, but it could do with more splash when Sam pulls the baddie in, other then that it looks great. :)

is there a reason you post from so many diffrent names ?

the water effect of the PS2 version will be the most impressive- not surprising since PS2 has the best partical effects (and lighting by the way). anything else is better on the other systems.

Patricle effects - maybe / lighting - xbox wins hands down.

What's so impressive about these shots again???

I don't know, after having played the xbox version(demo) this seems way worse.

Everytime a splinter cell game comes out,we get a bunch of shots from the ps2 version, some people claim that it looks great(despite looking average just like these pictures) and then the actual game comes out and looks butchered compared to the pc/xbox.

From what i've seen it seems that PC>>Xbox>>>>Ps2 for this game.I hope that the GC version is a port of the pc/xbox versions.

Same question.
Why is my nick in that "list"?

He might be posting from a university campus or something. Might explain an identical IP number. ;)

4 of the above 8 screenshots are not done during actual game play, so I am not really impressed. The other 4 might be during game play, but I highly doubt it.

Or maybe Lisbon shares the same internet connection and IP number for all its citizens!! :devilish:

No, but those who have a connection with the largest isp (my case), pass thru a proxy.
Maybe he sees that ip, i don't know.

I dunno about Splinter Cell, but those effects spoken of feature in Snowblind Studio's Champions of Norrath game, along with 2x full screen AA.
