hardware accelerated gui transparencies

This is a really nice feature. You can make entire windows transparent, move them around really fast and it doesn't slow down. Now the problem I'm having is driver support of this.

Previous Radeon 8500 drivers worked fine with this but it seems the latest official (6014), after running any Direct 3D program, it screws up. :devilish: If I make a window transparent at this point, the entire window is transparent but is filled in with my button face color, ie gray. Menu pop up transparencies also do the same thing as do tooltips and anything else. This means the actual contents of the window aren't there, they are shaded a single color.

The best part is the way to fix it. Run an OpenGL program.

Anyone know what the hell?

Transparency is a feature of Windows 2000 and the API says to make everything transparent.
