Halo 3 news in new mag.

Not sure if anyone noticed the hypocricy...At the top of the mag is says
Unofficial >> Unbiased >> Unrivalled
Then right below that:
PS3 is DEAD.
Welcome to the real next gen...

Hahah :)

As far as the magazine article goes....
Joystiq article

yes the magazine is real, i got my subscription through to post the other day. and guys, don't critisize the magazine without ever reading it. Yes, it is an xbox only magazine, and yes it is biased, not that much, but thats neither here nor there, it is funny nonetheless, which is what i like about it. ANYWAY...to the article, the front page, quite frankly, is a let down, a misleading one at that. All the article is, is some reader's sending in there views on what the next halo should bring to the table, and that is it, nw confirmations, no screens. I think the only reason they did this was for more copies that needed to be sold, because, it is quite a poor edition to be honest, anyway, there's you confirmation of the non-confirmation of halo 3, sorry about that, Cheers, Dan

Don't get your hopes up. This could (and probably is) just a hype article with a Halo 3 wishlist or something.

Exactly my thoughts. I would imagine something like Halo 3 would be premiered on a bigger magazine, like the Official Xbox or EGM magazine. Plus its too early, they're getting ready to push PDZ anyway.

Well one character, UE3 could manage that as it is!
I think so to (at least to a point any differences would be moot). To me it is not the tech, but the art. UE3 may very well be capable of that screen, but so far I have not seen anything with that much "style". And yet the picture is not over complicated. That MC model basically is nice self shadowing, nice lighting, super detailed textures for the armor with some really snazzy bullet decals, and no aliasing. The shadow is nice with soft edges. Outside of that I can probably complain on forever about it ;) But the art is just really good. Obviously this is concept art and a "busy" screen with a perfect angle and pose. But I could be happy with that graphic detail, that level fidelity, for basically the rest of my gaming life. Ditto MGS4. I don't need "realism" just immersion. MGS4 had a lot of crumbling walls with dirt and rocks falling and was an interactive world. While I am reading the same things into this Halo 2 concept art, if it had all the "busy" stuff and kept this type of fidelity the static graphics, IMO, would need no improvement. Animation, interactivity (like the sand should act like sand!), AI, physics, objects that reacted and broke/blew up like real stuff, etc... are all more important to me once you get to that point of graphical fidelity. And of course art :)

Anyhow I really like that concept art piece. I have only played a little bit of Halo, but I am a big FPS fan and the alien/space marine thing is up my geek alley :D

IDGNS: Bill Gates said that Halo3 would be ready as soon as PS3 would be ready to ship. Is this time-frame realistic?

Bach: Philosophically the point Bill was trying to make is that we’re not just going to ship and not have great stuff coming up. We don't know when Sony will ship PS3. They’ve said spring ... What we do know is that the way our portfolio lines up we’re going to have great exclusive content. Halo is something we’ll ship when it’s ready.

I think they're shooting for shopping season 2006. They'll have PDZ on launch, GoW early next year...

Nice one to counter the PS3 hype on E3.

And we also have this secret Bungie project (CES?)...

Well Im by no means a marketing expert but...

I would think MS would want to solidfy their system launch with the current games available "at the launch window", online options and multiplayer strengths of the system, to start momentum and quickly establish a base (possibly adding to). Then as the PS3 starts showing final specs and some playable games then try to steal some of their thunder by reinforcing the new GOW franchise with up to date game graphics and details, mention and show other strong titles in your lineup that are in development, (both foreign and domestic) and then maybe show a taste whether trailer or (preferably) actual gameplay of Halo 3 for a finale :)

We all know that Halo 3 is a strong franchise for MS and so far IMO many of the Xbox 1 base will come along when $$ permit them to get the Xbox 360. Its the other franchises whether new (GOW) and MS investment in Japanese Titles that needs to be show to reinforce their "commitment" to gamers around the world who are on the fence about the Xbox 360 that indeed next generation gaming is here now and you dont have to wait for the PS3 to get it. MS need to show the consumers that this generation they are giving the gamers what they want from games geared towards all audiences from the U.S. to EU, to Japan and beyond.

But then again MS has done alot this gen I didnt expect marketing wise so knowing MS they could do the exact opposit :)
