GRAW review XBOX 360 by IGN

Bah, please shut up already guys, I don't want to hear any more.

j/k, well at least kinda anywy. All your posts are making me wish I could play the game, but I know it isn't worth the bother as there is no southpaw setting and I can't aim for crap with my right thumb. :(

Damn that sucks. Is it just the asymmetric design of the 360 controller that is the problem? Surely there is a way to adjust the control settings.

well i dunno if it'll help, but this uses very precise aiming mechanic, when you hold left trigger the crosshairs are very easy to move, it's not your typical shoot where you look mechanic, the only typical aiming is when sniping.

Nah, the ofset analogs are no big deal. It is just that the game doesn't have the option to make the left thumbstick control looking and the right thumbstick moveing instead normal "right handed" method which works the other way around.

The vast majorty of action games have a "southpaw" option, including the previous GR games and even the orignal xbox version of this new one as well. The 360 Dashboard even has a setting in the profile options, but the game has to support the feature for that to work and unfortunatly GRAW does not. At least the demo should be out sometime soon so I can check out the pretty graphics while fumbleing around with the controls.

PM cloudscapes. Although he isn't on the team working the game (he's working on R6!!) he can probably make a strong statement for players like you to have selections that work with your needs be included in a future update!

i thought you could set the control scheme in the live blades, and that would then override every game that you put in after that?

Nope. There is a setting in the dashboard analog to adjust what stick moment defaults to with your profile, along with invert look, sensitivity and one other option I don't recall at the moment; but the options only for games that support the features. It would be nice if MS made a point to enforce the use of those defaults options though, not just for shooters and stuff but even things like walking around the showrooms in PGR3 would be more plesent if they respected one's preferred control method.

oh, I thought all games were supposed to support that.

WOW

this game continues to amaze
the lighting (OMG), the textures, the explosions and fire, the sounds, the feel of the guns, the story...

Even the mexican training missions scream quality. I blove the animations (havent gotten into the lighting just yet (dont like it when games put everything in that afternoon light bah!) but The way the whole screen moves makes it feel like there is more to world to that left or right than in other games. It just has this "continuous" feel a feel of real peripheral vision if you. I'm loving it so far although I only had about 15 minutes of training exercise!

I love this game!........END OF MESSAGE.
indeed

and it's digital-crack in Multiplayer

the first couple of days I was disappointed in the gameplay compared to CoD2 and not as impressed by the graphics in MP. (SP is amazing looking)

After a few days with it now it looks amazing even in MP. Not SP good but still top notch and well above CoD2.

I'm also getting used to the gameplay. Campaign and Co-op is pretty good too. The enemy AI is definitely not Forest Gump.

Screen shots do not do Next (this) Gen games justice AT ALL.

Agree with you on almost everything except AI. In MP high difficulty, the AI kinda leave you wanting something more intelligent. It's definitely no Halo. However, I must admit it's more realistic in a sense, when you sneaked up on an enemy and fire a shot over its head, it would not turn toward you right away; it would drop to the ground and look around trying to find a muzzle flash. I guess the AI is based on realism instead of a james bond/rambo.

Minor issues with the game:

Sometimes you would get stuck after using the machine gun turret.

If you're lying down in your last save point, load the game from that point and start moving while lying down, your body suddenly float upright with both arms wide up.

Lights (environments) are not destructable.

Co-Op modes leave me wanting more. I wish they would slightly moldify the SP mode for Co-Op. In many SP mission, you have a support team, why can't one of those guys be a real player?

However, overall it's an awesome game.

I was rolling through the SP at a good pace and after completing the 3rd level I restarted in Hard mode. That mode is the best although a little frustrating sometimes. I did play some MP and it is fun but I have never played a game were the MP is so much different than the SP.

The helicopter firefights at the end of day 2 are so friggin incredible... even with somewhat canned physics, the dust, smoke, haze, paper, and wind add so much to the realism that it makes this game really the cream of graphics crop right now. The "unnameable" game we all know and love may be on the mid range of what these consoles are capable of.
