The VVV review, for reference. He talks about the physics and track contour differences from about 7:00 to 15:00. Never heard of him, but he’s detailed in his comparison with GTS.

VVV has been around for a long time. I trust him. But I’m about a day or so I’ll be able to see for myself ;).

Worthy to note though that physics calculations are not that computationally expensive per se, but also that they can be partly done on the GPU if necessary.

Not GT7 but getting all the circuit challenges gold has been sort of my send off to GT Sport, look forward to doing the same with GT7.

Wow thats pretty cool. The road is drying mostly from the left side. I wonder if it takes into account the direction and the angle of the road and sun for that. Pretty nice details. The height of the clouds also change. Like in real life.

I think the way the road dries and where puddles form has been modeled in as part of the track, not using actual calculations on where cars drive, drainage points are, or how porous and or inclined the road surface is. We’re a while away from doing that reliably I think. This is also the reason why this feature isn’t available yet on all tracks, just those ten environments that support it currently.

However the approach they took here gives a very realistic approximation of how it would be in real life on that track, and that is very cool!

The cloud formations and day night cycle and real-time lighting is everywhere though and I am really happy about that, makes the driving more interesting and varied.

my fav gt streamer, realy interested with his gt7 opinion
edit: much improved physics, kerbs are lethal, road cars on sport tyres seems to be little too sketchy

Definitely a big step forward in physics especially grip and suspension modelling just from watching him drive.

yea, I was going to write something similar as this but the only reason I didn't was that in this case, cars/simulators have a lot of different physics calculations happening on fewer items, so thus, CPU may be the ideal processor here; while physics on GPU is a single calculation being applied to hundreds/thousands of objects - in which case it's better to exploit the parallelism of the GPU.

I personally don't think more physics makes a better game. I am on the line of having better tuned physics or approximation is enough. But if for the sake of debate, more physics = better experience, then my general assumption here is having a higher ceiling on CPU will result in more. I suppose it opens up additional nuance? But they seem more like edge cases than large holes in a simulation game.

SuperGT plays the game all day now. God I can’t concentrate on much else.

Also in Kie’s stream which is now finished and he gilded all the licences I came across David Perel who has his own channel and is a real racing driver. I remember thinking isn’t this kart.38 on Gt3Times and then he noticed me here and recognized me and said he remembered the Road Tire challenges I hosted there as if it was yesterday. I personally had actually forgotten about that myself, very funny. I remember he got into GT3 back then when he had broken his leg or something and couldn’t do his professional kart racing and then his brother gave him GT3 and a PS2 to keep him busy.

He was really good, as was a guy with the alias Hugo Boss who worked at a kart track (too big and tall to become a pro racer) and they had some great challenges back then. I met Hugo in real life also when hosting iLink parties (like LAN parties but easier to setup and more stable [emoji16]).

God I wish I could play myself already.

The lighting can be truly amazing …

If I am still awake by 0:00 I’ll probably stream to YouTube [emoji16]

but apparenlty very sketchy with very sensitvie weight transfer on muscle and mr cars, hope they will adjust it or I will suffer ;d
