I had to try four times to win the Brand's Hatch race ... Really don't know that track very well yet.
The dirt on the cars surprised me, works quite well actually.
Menus are a huge improvement, very fast.
Handling is fantastic.
Force Feedback is a step up too.
Car settings (like ABS and TCS) are remembered per car.
ABS off gives a better experience than last time, pretty good now.
To quote Eurogamer: "For the first time, reverse isn't bound to the triangle button, and can be selected through the shifter. A small but important victory." Yes indeed!

Load times are pretty amazingly good.
Just did the first licence test, all gold - nice that it's just five tests. Won a go-kart, an Alfa Romeo MiTo 1.4 T Sport '09, and some trophies. Have 40k credits. 1 hour in, and I know this can already buy me a half-decent car. Time for a coffee break.
As expected, the Alfa is a good car to win the beginners cup with.
Graphics are good, but not flawless. Cockpit view is frequently too low on framerate imho. Sometimes shadows freak out a bit. Some shimmering (playing in 1080p). But crap, then you drive a lap during sunset and get reminded that on most tracks the lighting is realtime, and the game blows you away.
Just won a Renault Sport Clio R.S. '11 for winning all stars in Beginner Championship. Using that in the next race series, Clubman Cup, which promises 400pp opposition (Clio is 403)
Darn, 0.2 to slow on the final Mission to get gold. This would have given me a Lancer. I haven't bought a single car yet, only won stuff. Credits now 98k.
Got it.
Evo VI GSR TM ED '99 mine.
A little under 3 hours of play and I now have 5 cars and 100k credits. Good start! Old strategy still works - win cars that you need for the races rather than buy them.
With the pre-order bonus cars straight in your garage, it becomes even easier, but I may consider pretending I don't have them just to see how easy the game is to get through.
Edit: was going to stop and go to bed, then read online that Goodwood also wins you cars. Tried it, and it's actually quite short and easy to learn. Now I won 26k more credits, a Light Car Company Rocket '07,
