Going to europe

I showed that picture of Spain to my mom. She's afraid terrorists are going to get us there.

Those pictures of London are incredible. Especially the Tower Bridge and Albert Hall. I have heard about Picadilly Square. It was recommended to me by an old lady at work. Is this an interesting place to visit?

I think you mean Piccadilly Circus. Lots of shops. Bought a blazer there once. You could spend two weeks in London and never be bored though. Just remember to stick to ethnic cuisine :) Lots of good Italian and Indian all over London. Of course Shepherd's pie is obligatory at least once and goes best with a pint and a packet of crisps.

They can get you in any other of the countries, specially in England. Terrorists are tha sux, and you can't stop doing things you want to do because of them. If you do so, they win.

The only sentence that I've ever seen the words "Birmingham" and "nice" together was "It was nice to leave Birmingham forever...".

Birmingham has improved considerably in the last ten years and there are some truly great suburb areas. The last time I was there (about 1.5 years ago) I stayed at Moor Hall out in Sutton Coldfield and it was wonderful.

Not exactly a tourist town like London, but 'taint that bad!

First time I ever went to sutton coldfield some kid chucked half a brick at my face, fortuantley it didn't bruise. The city centre isn't terrible, it has some good shops and seems to have a reasonable nightlife. For me its not in the same LEAGUE as Leeds, London or Manchester.

You should try Rome. Most beautiful place i've ever been in my life.

I can't comment on Rome, but I will say that Brugges in Belgium must be seen if you have the chance.

Why Birmingham?
Why do I suspect Dave's cheek was bulging when he suggested that? It has a "fine" motorway running through high-rise housing estates and, if I recall correctly from driving through (& not stopping), some good high voltage electrical pylons.

I have been told, however, that the centre's not bad but I've never stopped to look.

If you are doing cities, some of my recommended places are:
  • London (big area, lots to see)
  • Cambridge (or maybe Oxford) to see the colleges (but avoid exam time).
  • Brugges (an absolutely beautiful town)
  • Paris
  • Munich (I seem to recall was quite nice. I don't even like beer and I drank 3 litres)
  • Luzern in Switzerland... very pretty
  • Budapest was also really interesting.

Just avoid the ones right in the centre like Liecester Square - food was awful. If you want a really good Indian near the centre, I can recommend "The Tamarind Tree". Outstanding.

Also, if you want an posh pizza+burger place (complete with string quartet or pianist) there's a place in Soho (near the "Les Mis" theatre) . Can't remember the name though.

Of course Shepherd's pie is obligatory at least once and goes best with a pint and a packet of crisps.
You also can't beat a good Cornish Pasty.
