God of War [PS4, PC]

HDR and WCG are not Pro enhancements. That would be a kick in the face of regular PS4 owners as their base consoles are perfectly capable of handling hdr and wcg.
Of course, I didn't mean to exclude the base PS4 HDR and WCG output capability. Also there are actually additional improved visual effects on top of a higher res on the Pro version :).

Sony needed to burn all those cash they earned from PS4 sales :).
And he's back!

MOD: Outdated, last-century, utterly inefficient, 256 colour, dithered, oversized animated gif clip removed.

(37 MB file, 9 seconds long, is 32 Mbps data rate. For 256 colours! Netflix video is ~3 Mbps.)

Recommend something like this to use modern, 21st Century, lean, efficient video format.

GIF won't die if we keep using it. So don't.

Yes, but it's totally unnecessary considering the gameplay of GoW is probably the most graphically impressive gameplay of any Sony first party games. And the CGI wasn't even that great. And they should have showed more of that 'Thor hammer' gameplay.

And I still don't understand why they used the boat on the game cover. I still haven't seen any boat in actual gameplay.

They could get sued about it. They really should think about making a warning somewhere in the cover:

"The boat is not in actual gameplay"

Yeah the game's graphics could really carry itself for a TV Spot tho I think it's simply to save time at this point , they want the team to fully concentrate on polishing everything till the last minute while outsourcing CG team for a quick cut.
They should have added à caption of kratos saying "I'm on a boat"
Also they probably don't want people to mistaken it for Boat of War too much:)

Some info for people who can't view video, article.

- Using CB rendering to reach native 4K pixel count.
- Overall image is sharper than Horizon with some minor CB artifacts.
- Character detail, shading and world detail is praised.
- GPU accelerated particles also praised.
- Volumetric lighting praised. It's truly volumetric, not baked.
- Post Process is also excellent with per-object motion blur.
- The only visual element slightly letting down is reflections on water surfaces.

Many positive previews :)

"The entirety of God of War plays out in a single, uninterrupted shot, the camera dancing through the series' trademark cinematic encounters in a way that's thrillingly dynamic. Come the end of 2018 it's likely to go down as one of the year's great achievements in games, and the execution is peerless."
