rounin said:How is it that you can see this game looks good from such a low quality video That said even if the graphics are completely unchanged from GOW it will still be very amazing.
Kratos = new God of War???

Well, at the end of GOW, Kratos becomes the new God of War, with his palace, throne and all that...
It will be interesting to see how they twisted the story to make a game out of this, either by making him "normal" again, or... well that's all i can think of, cause the God of War shouldn't be battling with simple monsters like those, he should flick a finger and off they go, like Ares, the previous God of War, used to do.
END OF SPOILERS

Well, in the trailer, he's not wearing the God of War's armor, instead back to his old kilt and topless. Which may imply that either he's no longer a god or he was not yet a god. But at the end of the trailer during the aerial combat, it seems as though Pegasus is with Kratos. I would think that only a god (or a demi god) could ride the horse. I'm not really sure myself (continuation, prequel?).
I have not played the original GOW in a while so I can't remember very well [how it looks], so in the trailer (GOW2) is Kratos using the blades Ares gave him or the blades Athena gave him? Hmm, maybe as a god, he can't interfere with human affair, so the supreme lords took some of his powers and made him a demi god. I just hope they execute the [plot] transition well.

hupfinsgack said:How about Kratos having a son? His demi-god son could have to fulfill some mission to prove himself, just like Hercules (the original myth and not the f*cking TV series). This way the could still have some improvements from GOW without continuity problems
london-boy said:Mmmm i really think the prequel option will be the most logical... sadly... Kratos has a hell of a past, i'm sure Sony will milk it for all its worth.
hupfinsgack said:Dammit, they shouldn't call it GOW2 then, but GOW Prime. Anyway, prequelitis is the offspring of sequelitis. Both are serious diseases if overdone.
Personally, I prefer continuing a story and implementing important events in the main characters past by flashback, etc. Moreover, it's not necessary to explain everything (aka the Matrix Reloaded / Revolution syndrome), some things are better left unexplained and unexplorer. That's much more intriguing, in my opinion.
Sry, for the rant...
BTW, continuing on my version of GOW2: Kratos' son finally kills Kratos just like Zeus did Chronos.

Anyways, thanks for the explanations guys. And for the record I must commend londonboy for spotting self shadowing from that awful video...

Kratos leaves his newly-won Olympus throne to defeat "untold horrors" and, if he can, change fate itself. Kratos is prepared for the journey; he wields new combat moves -- in addition to familiar attacks -- and elemental magic to crush his foes. The game offers new environments, new enemies (including Cyclops, Cerebus, and the Flying Gryphon), new puzzles, even more boss battles, and mini-games integrated into the story.

PHEEEW!!! So it's not a prequel!
hupfinsgack said:Double Kane-Yeah! So it's no prequel. I am very keen on knowing why Kratos leaves the Olympus. Maybe there's an intrigue among the gods and goddesses. That would fit pretty well in the Greek mythology scenario.
