Gmail authentication question

I was wondering whether Gmail allows any other authentication methods besides username and password.

Alternatively there is no way of getting Gmail to automatically forward copies of sent mail to another account is there? (perhaps a Gmail Lab app or similar?)

Thanks

Ah, sorry. Read to fast. POP downloads the Sent Mail 'folder' for gmail, though; so some filtering rules on a local mailbox or a bit of scripting and a command line client (or Python, or Perl, or...) might work.

Thanks, but does POP still use the password/username authentication system?
I change my Gmail password frequently and don't want to have to change it on the email I want to get my incoming/outgoing mail forwarded to.
Is there anyway of using an alternate authentication system to connect to my Gmail account, that will not be affected by Gmail password changes?

Ie. something similar to Windows Mail linked IDs where if you change the password on one account the linked account can still access it without requiring the new password to be input
