Just got word from the dm that we have to tell everyone we are only taking preorders for the second shipment of xbox 360s . Our store alone has 50 units preordered. This is all gamestop stores with a few odd exceptions where u might get lucky. I do not know how many units are in the first shipment ms promised us . But we are out of those units

This however doesn't count for the website . The website has its own set of xbox units for release day . Just giving you guys a heads up.

When I put in my $50 pre-order at Babbage's about a week ago, I was surprised that I was the 37th person to do so. Intrest seems to be running high.

The clerk was saying that there might be a rebate for Samsung LCD displays included in with the XB-360. The latest LCD displays from Samsung on paper demolish all other LCD displays from other companies. At least so far thats my conclusion after shopping around for a new display. Maybe by the end of the year Sharp will have some new LCD's that match the technology Samsung has with their LNR line. Before comparing I thought Sharp was supposed to be top of the heap when it came to LCD technology. Samsung seems to have leapfrogged Sharp big time.

The specs are stunning.

LNR238W

12 ms response time
3000:1 contrast ratio
1366 x 768 pixel resolution
16:9 aspect ratio

They have the same specs available in larger sized displays also.

Do any of you know about a Samsung rebate deal if you buy a XB-360?

Looks like 360's off to a good start.

I myself have not committed to this system yet. My plan is to try to make do with fewer consoles this year - for reasons of both cost and living-room space.

I just hope I don't kick myself come launch day! :)

I thought the exact same thing ... where LCDs were concerned, I thought Sharp was #1 ... but it seems Samsung have overtaken them, as you say

Honestly, I think Gamestop's "numbers" for the "first shipment" are rubbish (whatever they may be). They're trying to play it safe by keeping the numbers relatively low. It also helps boost demand.

Don't get me wrong, it's great to see interest doing this well so early. However, I believe the supply will be a bit bigger than what they're saying. If Microsoft actually did give out initial allotments, the numbers can probably change at any time (hell, they haven't even started production yet).

They have to be conservitive until MS gives them hard numbers of units that will be ready for launch. Better to not take enough than to many pre-orders.

Indeed, bump a customer from second to first shipment and they'll love you. Knock them back however ...

Yes they don't know final shipment sizes . They are going by what ms said is the least amount of systems they would get at launch .

The bigger stores get more reserve space. So by us the garden state plaza (huge mall ) gets the most reserves at 150 but the bergen mall had 45 for first shipment .

However reserves are really really good ist already passed up the ds reserves and is closing in on the psp reserves

Samsung LCD specs are highly exaggerated. If you could find any reviews that actually do measurements of the CR, you'll realize it's just marketing numbers. Also color is an important factor in LCD quality and Samsung is not known for rich color LCDs.

Anyway I'm not going to preorder an Xbox 360. I'm just going to do what I did when the DS launched..walk into any TRU and buy one. ;)

watch out pc-engine you might get stuck if there are shortages .

Anyway we got games for reservations so if you pop into a gamestop ask them and if they say they don't have them tell them to search for the jaguar games ( don't ask ) and it will list x360 games .

Since i got my new job i've been putting my huge gamestop checks (yea right ) down on the xbox 360 , next pay check it will be payed off and i start on the controllers :)

It depends on the launch title list. I think GoW and Huxley are supposed to come out 2006, and I don't know if Ghost recon 3 or Kameo are launch titles. But any of those would make me pre-order.

we have kameo for the week before launch , so i believe it will be a launch title , we got a bunch of psp games a week before launch also .

I was in my local Gamestop yesterday, and they said they have almost sold out of the second shipment, and they won't be taking pre-orders for any later shipment.

They also game me a list of game "launch" game I could pre-order. Here they are. None of this is set in stone.

Just the other day, I went to check out the LNR238W at Best Buy and Sears and to my eyes its clearly superiour to other LCD displays on the showroom floor which included Sharp. The image is very crisp and rich in color.

"Kameo Elements of Power-----------------10/3/05"

What's up with this date...
Maybe it includes both Xbox1 and X360 versions! :)

Just one thing about the kameo date ... this may actually be real . We recived psp games two weeks before the system came out

we are also going to start taking pre orders on other things like controllers in the next week or so . We are wiating on the exact kits

Damn, I guess I need to head down to the store and preorder then. I'd be pretty pissed off if I had any trouble getting one on day one.

This info deserves its own thread.

I would like to discuss:

1. How that lineup compares to past generation launch lineups.

2. What games in there are potentially good, potentially bad, guaranteed stinkers, and any possible gems that we will care about when 2007 comes around.

jvd, is it worth of its own thread?
