So as the time for the revealing of the Revolution comes closer I was wondering about a few technical issues.
With the classic downloadeable games from NES,SNES and N64 era, Nintendo will add specific REV remote functionality. For example Mario64 DS added the ability to use the stylus on he touch screen in addition to the classic control method. So we can expect old games like SMB3 to add REV remote funcionality. For example you will be able to play Super Mario Bros3 with the classic style, or with the REV remote one handed where you might move the controller left and right to move Mario left and right, and flick your wrist to make him jump.
Now how would this work with GC games, assuming they add REV remote functionality.
I could see them maybe adding it to Nintendo 1st and 2nd party games at least.
The question then becomes how.
Would it be more liley to download a patch for each GC game you want to play on the REV, or would Nintendo reissue GC games, under the "Revolution" banner.
For downloading you might pop the GC game in, the REV would detect the GC game then if you have Nwifi set up, it would ask and prompt you to DL a patch to the flash drive.

Well in the TGS demo they had, they had someone doind that (judging from the sounds) so that may be the case as fro as ye olde mario is conserned.

Well it sure would seem like an unfulfilled expectation if they didn't combine the two most prominent and obvious selling points of the REV up to this point.

I think they will have a standardised approach. Ie. The layout for the NES will be movement with the remote OR controller expansion - your choice. No patches, no re-releases.

I'm not sure what you mean, are you talking about a standardized approach with GC games? If that's the case they could just use the GC controller since there will be GC controller ports.
With the NES,SNES and N64 games they would just add code to the games while porting them over and you will DL the game with the new code via the wifi serice. For the GC games it's still unclear.

i think i read that twilight princess is being coded to be able to use either controller. couldn't they use some kind of controller wrapper. it would take rev input and translate it to original controller input and feed that into the emulator. all that would be needed would be a formalized system, specific rev controller movements meaning specific controller buttons. you could even allow user configuration of what movement would do what. or a simple download of a developer designed configuration file could be made.
