Nonsense.

There are performance counters built into the Cube dev kit. Dunno how they compare to the PA.

Yeah, people laugh at me when they find out I don't know the language of my ancestors.

Well.. c'mon.. Martian is really tough to learn! I mean, uh.. HELLO FELLOW EARTH CITIZENS, HOW ARE YOU? Hehe.. heh...

Rebel Strike is better, technically, then any other GC game out there regardless of framerate. Yet you damn it because it doesn't always stay at 60fps? If Rebel Strike was 30fps it would still be the most technically advanced game on GC.

If it was 30fps I'd still say it wasn't a top tier game technically speaking. Games like Metroid Prime and Fzero make better use of the hardware IMO. They are scoffed at technically, yet not many developer's games run so smooth. If it was so easy.. every game would look this buttery, no?

You could make a game with ray traced lighting on GCN if you wished. It's just not going to be much of a real time simulation. That we disagree on where the line should be drawn is something we're apparently just going to have to disagree on.

I've finished Rebel Strike with every bonus mission unlocked. The game is definitely one of the best looking games this gen. Factor5 played their cards brilliantly in the visual department. I would say, the visuals are almost over-engineered, too bad they payed not the same attention to gameplay-polish. Anyway, visuals are top notch ... they even reminded me of low-budget CGI from a few years ago, not all the way ... but the game sure had it's moments.

What do means when you talk about ''better use''? Polygonal count, lighting, texturing and so much other, do you think Fzero is better of this?
Explain me your thinking about please.

gurgi

You just prefer good looking and smooth vs great looking and slightly inconsistent. That does not mean good looking and smooth always pushes a machine further then great looking and slightly inconsistent just because that's how you prefer your games. Now if you really believe these games push the GC further then RS then fine, I'll just disagree. But don't try to disqualify RS as a top tier game technically by saying that only games with super smooth framerates can be called top tier.

Now to what you said about MP/FZ. Firstly I'm not sure why your asking me that question considering the fact that so far I haven't said a bad word against the games (and wouldn't since I think they are very good technically). Also a similar thing could be said about RS. How many games on GC can rival it for pure graphical quality?.. none. If it were so easy then all games would look so brilliant graphically, no?

You could make a game with ray traced lighting on GCN if you wished. It's just not going to be much of a real time simulation. That we disagree on where the line should be drawn is something we're apparently just going to have to disagree on.

So none realtime ray tracing is similar to not always hitting 60fps is it?... I suppose your going to tell me that RS doesn't qualify as "much of a real time simulation" now because its not totally smooth 60fps?

Common, lets stop this now ok. Lets just admit that MP/FZ and RS are all excellent games technically just with different philosophy's behind them and stop arguing about it.

Both moderators are italian. I can only speak it. Can't write it to save my life. I'm worse than an online translator but then my italian teacher was also the spanish , french , and german teacher and would sometimes switch between all the languges that she knew during class :(

Lets not go off topic or they will post mean threads about me

If it were so easy then all games would look so brilliant graphically, no?

Aside from screenshots I'm not sure I'd say it looks 'brilliant' graphically. They are doing some neat things, but are too caught up in features and not enough into creating solid game engines IMO.

I'm not sure what to make of the 'some games just look smoother' comment. Is it computations per second that makes something impressive?.. a list of features a developer can check off the 'how to make your game impressive' list? Perhaps I'm oversimplifying.. but if it wasn't a technical feat to make your game run like the smoothest of silk, every game would run so. They don't.

I don't mean to disqualify RS for anyone here but myself. Sorry if my opinion is stated so 'matter of fact' that it feels like I'm stepping on yours. It's a bad habit.

i, often divide the graphic from the technic, i think you mean Fzero gx and Metroid Prime like you much more that Rebel strike for the graphic, and i can understand that. But for the technic Rebel strike is maybe the best game for witchever hardware present now in the market

Nothing that consistently drops below 60fps should ever be considered as pushing hardware. Your technical ability cannot be considered top tier if you can't even manage a solid framerate.. let alone solid 60fps.

Since when does Rebel Strike consistently drop below 60fps?
Uh...the majority of the time? Did I accidentally rent the <30fps version or something?

I agree that it's a technical marvel, but it's far closer to 30fps the majority of the time than 60, and drops below 30fps in quite a few levels actually.

I think Teasy is right about RebelStrike as the most "advanced" GC title out there and probably IMO on all the consols. But in my opinion it´s just a fancy "tech-demo" and i got a bit dissapointed on the gameplay. Starfighter and JediStarfighter were much better IMO because of the better story etz. When talking about frames i felt it was/is much more fluid then RougeLeader and that was fine. Some of the mission´s is plain stupid and is over on a minute like Sarlacc´s Pit, Trials of the Jedi was boring and many more. I think there were a couple good mission "guns of Dubrillion", " Defenders of of Ralltiir" and the Endor mission´s. When you get too fly the Jedi Starfighter it´s way too short but the seismic charges are cool. Well this was off topic but any of you guys that have the same impressions or thought´s about the game..?
