Gamecube and his power...

Checking an italian forum (im from Italy) some people talking about Gamecube and his resources was discussing the new games for the Nintendo's console and in particular the new games from Factor5, ''Rebel Strike''. A programmer of an european software house (for correctess i dont tell the name) reponse to some people witch talking about ''Rebel strike is the best production out there for that it regards the technic'', he tell them he ''dont think that and that Metroid Prime take advantage of the Nintendo console more that the Factor5 production cause Metroid Prime have better i.a.''. I know here there are so much expert people and a lot of programmers and want an opinion about the grafic and technic in ''Rebel strike''. Do you think ''Rebel strike'' maximed out the console?
Do you think ''Rebel strike'' is the best technically speaking on the Nintendo console? After you see Rebel strike do you think that ''Half-life2'' is possible on Gamecube? Thank you and bye.

And internal condensation could damage it too!! :D Thats why you need to wait at least 2 hours before switching the console on after moving it from a relatively humid place (E.G. outside, when coming home from the shop), because condensation can accumulate and damage the electronics inside the box. ;)

Nothing that consistently drops below 60fps should ever be considered as pushing hardware. Your technical ability cannot be considered top tier if you can't even manage a solid framerate.. let alone solid 60fps.

but in the forums nowadays is possible to get a serious reponse? I read this forum cause i think here are serious people.

 Errrrmmmm.... YEAH!

My question...

Is there anything like the PS2 Performance Analyzer but for GC? That is, is there a dev kit that shows how much of the GC's resources are used in a given period of time, running a certain game?

I know that Xbox has something similar (maybe not as sophisticated) that comes by default with the Dev kits, but how about the GC?

Some people thinki that ''performance analyzer'' give not ''REAL'' valutation pertinent the possibilty of a ''hardware'', for you its right?

Assuming i have understood your question, basically the PA shows the amount of bandwidth, poly count used in a certain period of time, together with extensive information on the various processors' usage, in order to show the developer where he/she can fit the code best and use the strengths of the paltform.
There was a PDF roaming around, and a pretty informative one at that too... In the example given they used R&C and it showed how it utilised the PS2 architecture.

Also, i think we should get away from terms like "power" which in itself doesn't mean anything.

No prob! The "power" thing stems from way back, i wasn't referring to you in particular... R u italian? I'm italian too!! Di dove?

Oh, benvenuto a B3D Forum... It's cool in here, bit slow at times, but (as some people might find irritating) I'm always on here so of course it's slow for me... Work is just too slow for my brain...

Since when does Rebel Strike consistently drop below 60fps?

Rebel Strike is better, technically, then any other GC game out there regardless of framerate. Yet you damn it because it doesn't always stay at 60fps? If Rebel Strike was 30fps it would still be the most technically advanced game on GC. Factor 5 could have locked the game at 30fps and it would have been an absolutely solid 30fps. So basically because Factor 5 didn't lock the game at 30fps then suddenly their technical ability is not top tier and RS is not pushing hardware? Sorry but that doesn't add up.

There's loads of italians here... Pana, didn't know u were one of us! U're one hell of a techie for an italian... i mean, not saying that italians can't be tech heads, just find it difficult to see an italian have all the info u have and actually understand all of it. Cause i sure as hell don't

(ot) io quì a dire il vero non ci scrivo mai ma ci leggo perchè mi sembra ci sia gente molto seria, cosa questa che su la maggior parte dei forum italiani pian piano viene meno (ma c'è mai stata?). (fine ot)
