Full image of the xbox 360!

On second inspection, and after referencign the render, I think that discoloration/texture change I perceived is actually just where the embossed text 'XBOX360' was in the render, so probably something along those lines in this case as well.

i think it's safe to say it's notably smaller than the old xbox (but i'm betting somewhat heavier!)

According to a journo on GAF, it's lighter. But, of course, that may not be final hardware, and final hardware may make it heavier (or they do have some with final innards?)

well we know it's not got a big whopping HDD in there (assuming the info is correct) so that's working in that rumours favour i suppose. then there's the possibility that the psu may be external a la gamecube, again potentially lightening the console.... so i suppose it's possible

Oh god that thing is hideous. The first XB atleast gave off a sense of "power", this thing just looks like it will be remembered as why MS pulled out of gaming!

#1 - Concave design? WTF?

#2 - It's using NES colours - light and dark gray - bleh

#3 - It just looks plain cheap - check out the controller!!

MS should have retained Apple to design the bloody thing. Even they can make a 1U server look sexy!

The wireless controlers make sense now as it will be easier to hide the box far away from everyones eyes. ;)

Fredi

Looks very top-heavy and unstable, especially with the "hat" on.
If they have a vertical stand for it, why aren't they showing it mounted?

notice what looks like a record button at the very very bottom of the remote - backs up tivo or dvd recorder like functionality.

I'm not seeing a record button down there - and if there was a record button, it wouldn't make any sense to put it as the bottom-most button on the controller anyway. But a good post though with some good pics.

maybe it's just me, but the very bottom button with red writing on it looks like it says REC...

anyway, i never said it was a record button, just that it looked like one ;)

i like what i see, but i wish those plasticy looking grey thumbsticks and d-pad were rubberised... would look instantly better imo :(

LOL, I know I know, I wasn't trying to imply that you explicitly stated it. ;)

Anyway to me that bottom button seems to be similar to the symbol to synchronize wireless devices, similar to the small round button on the console itself.

now that you say that i see where you're coming from... does look somewhat like the three comma sign.

question is why would you need that on an infra red remote? unless of course it wasn't infra red which leads to the question of what the port on the front of the xbox 360 is for.

so many questions.....

Well I think it's probably so you can synchronize all the wireless controllers without having to walk *all* the way over to the box and pushing it from there. Pathetic I know, but that's my theory on that.

mmmm, certainly possible.

as for the windows start button - didn't they say they wanted all xbox peripherals to work with the PC?

mainly there to allow for that i'd venture... no doubt it serves a purpose on the 360, but i wouldn't read too much into the logo on the button

One big knock on GC styling from my perspective was that it looked very out of place on my home theater rack. Well, this will be even worse.
