Forza 4

Never had any issues so far though. Writing small files is probably slow only.

But I couldn't wait that long, already bought it! :p

No problem, I'm sure you'll you enjoy it :)

Actually, I think the 2nd disc is the same as most other 360 installs, in that it's a single file. I'd have to check, but I'm sure that'll be the case.

Funnily enough, yesterday I decided to backup a 2.7gb .pst file to a flash drive (no brand) I had lying around but once I started the copy WIn7 was telling me that it'll take 78 mins. I left it for 5 mins or so to see if it went any faster, but it only got to 4%.

I have no idea if that is normal flash drive behaviour or not as I generally backup onto external hard drives, but as we are migrating to a new system at work I wanted to create an extra copy and in the end just burnt it to DVD.

...and so does this mean that ALstrong is getting a chance to play?:cool:

If Canada (which I assume the Edmonton location relates to, and not the one in North London) had the same region code as the UK, then I'd be more than happy to send it.

Unless, of course, it is the one on North London and I'll pop it through the letterbox myself :)

It will almost certainly affect your load times, pop in, etc if your flash drive is that slow. Up to you I guess but I wouldn't recommend using it unless you are ok with handicapping your 360 games in general. That just doesn't make sense to me considering how cheap fast flash is now. It does explain how some people get fast load times and others experience slow load times. Makes one wonder how many people are crippling their game experience using outdated thumb drives.

I don't play that many 360 games, or I would probably have bought a new 360 already instead of this 20GB + 16GB flash. But the added flash has given me a lot of wiggle-room for having one full disc installed on the internal HDD and demos and some XBLA games on the Flash, and (Forza) DLC all over the place. Like I said though, there has been nothing so far giving me any issues except this single 2.8GB install, and I have had no issues playing the game now for some 3-4 hours straight. I think everything is loaded into memory all the time, and so far load-times are fine, and I haven't even installed the Forza 4 disc 1 to the HDD yet (I did that with Forza 3).

Unlocking cars goes fast here. I went up to level 11 or so - particularly setting a good rivals lap and scoring in the top 1000-2000 laptimes overall on the Forza leaderboards seems to net a lot of XP - after my two laps on the Ring in the Zonda Type R I leveled up almost 3 levels, from 9 to 11 (actually my second lap was already pretty good, only lost concentration at the end, crashing twice in a row). When I went back to career I was choosing cars for a looong time. :D I understand the complaints about American cars, btw, indeed quite a lot of them so far. But it's ok. I enjoyed the challenge on Laguna also.

I think the level scale is different. If I remember right GT5 max level is 40, isn't it 150 in Forza 4?

Complaints? Not here, most of my cars are American cars :)

Aha! So that's who that is. I wasn't sure if it was one of my co-workers. It easily could have been :)

Yeah, good to know. ;)

@joker454: I only got to level 18 with Forza 3. The Rival challenges make levelling up fast easier (much like the Special Events in GT5 really helped). Particularly a top 1% time boosts xp a lot :p

Yeah I noticed that yesterday when browsing for a Live sub. I would NOT recommend that, get an MS Wheel instead or just stick with controller.

The cap is 150, but you stop getting free cars at 50 anyway.

I'm actually considering just starting a new game and gifting all of the cars to myself when I hit 50 to get more free stuff. Getting back to affinity level 4 on a given manufacturer is insanely easy and way less valuable than some of the 1M+ credit cars you get for free at the higher levels of career mode.

Well, it looks like I can hang with the crowd pretty well on all the tracks that I am already intimately familiar with from other games. ;) Have managed to put some good times in this second (short) evening with the game, posting in 2nd place in most cases behind a certain other driver. Good time though Acert in that rallycross challenge with the Subaru, that's tough to get through clean.

And of course a nice step forward in that respect, in that the best lines are now really mostly the same. This even held up for the Top Gear track, which is really similar, but thankfully does also include that little hump at start finish :D (though unfortunately you can't drive there or your lap will be invalid, so that makes it a tad pointless, but it's still an important detail).

Despite some remaining niggles, I'm enjoying the driving quite a lot now, and the off-track bits aren't as aggravating as in Forza 3 either.

Off to bed now.

Come back to gears you twit. :p

Rotmm, send this man that copy. :p (or is he the wrong region)

hey Acert, you're inadvertently being involved in Kinect testing, hope you don't mind :) (Also, you're playing with a Turn 10 dev :))

Just as long as I am crushing him :p

Edit: That was fun. I have really enjoyed doing Rivals, but I think that was more enjoyable. Even though it was testing, racing with a group of live people is a blast--especially with S class cars on the Alps. Thanks for letting me hang.

I have sent you some new rival e-mails ;)

Btw, I am not ignoring your Rival challenges. See, we have a problem. You. Are. WAAAAY. Better. Than. I. Am!!! I spent an hour trying to best your Started Top Gear challenge in the Spark. Grr!! I am within 0.2 I believe but no, now Robert is like another 0.3 below you. That said I did take up Arwin the the go '70 Mustang challenge and bested him and also passed your time. I will properly send you a Rivals on that one--I seem to do better (and enjoy) the muscle cars. Something about straightening out before slamming the accelerator clicks with me. There are also a few corners I have identified as ones I can power through not following the line and shaving 0.3-0.6 seconds.

I will say this: Rivals is making me better. But, minimally, I can see that Graham (who has barely touched Rivals... but is stupid awesome at this game), you (Onkl), Robert, Hattrix, and Arwin are just better than I am. So I have my work cut out for me!

No problem :) Damn, you drive fast!
