first Playstation 3 Gameplay screenshots?

idk about gameplay, lack of a hud from what i can see. but this isnt just for ps3 afaik, and wouldnt be the first gameplay screens. Im pretty sure theres others, sonic for example.

graphics do look nice though

Supposedly they went to Sweden and saw the game running on a PS3 Devkit. Atleast that is what I have heard.

That looks a lot like Condemned.(esp.the second shot,if you told me it was from condemned i'd believe you).Anyway this game won't be released until the end of 2007 and it's multiplatform. It's from Starbreeze so let's hope that they'll deliver...

Looks nice but not impressive....

Nice textures though...yeah, huh?

Doesn't seem like that big of a deal really. There were already PS3 target render trailers shown like Devil May Cry and that Gundam game and the developers of those games said that it will at the very least look that good.

agreed 100%

Just download this weeks 1UP show form 1up.com. They have better quality shots of that game. Plus some footage of the John Woo ps3 game.

Why do some people assume anything without a HUD isn't gameplay? I saw the old PS2 X-Files game last night and there was no HUD there. Some games have the option to disable all HUD content too to get an unobstructed view.

As for whether they look nice or not, they're smeary, smudgy, low-res, highly compressed, totally unbalanced images. No sense of what the real game looks like can be derived from a compressed quarter-res jpg of a scan of a magazine print!

Condemend also has some really nice textures(and lighting). In fact the second shot looks identical to condemend on every level(even on the textures on the walls).Let's hope that the outdoor levels will be much more impressive(and they do look somewhat impressive judging by the 1st shot).

I managed to figure out how to capture from .wmv, so here are some more from the 1up video, and some sharper versions of those posted in the linked thread:

Sorry about the blurrier ones, but for those they were moving the camera across quicker..

this is the only sharp

is this from the ps2 version?

Yes it is, it's surprising how well the PS2 holds to the "next gen" consoles like xbox360 and PS3.
There really is no need to buy a new console for years if you already own a PS2.

Well I quess people see what they want to see... I'm not seeing this holding you are talking about, PS2-games have looked like crap for a very long time, luckily many of them are still great games like God of War. Now if you weren't talking about craphics, but the quality of the games as a whole, then you have a point.

Actually 99% of ps2 games look horrible and have looked horrible ever since the xbox1 was launched unless low-res textures, jaggies that hurt your eyes and horrible image quality is your thing and in that case ...have fun in the next few years...

hehe I was trying to be ironic, sorry ;)
While that screen above isn't that amazing (a carefully chosen image with very little happening on screen, kinda like if you took a screenshot from a fps game when you're facing a concrete wall...), one must be very ignorant if one is to think it could be from a PS2 game.

Of the game, if you want my opinion.
I really have no opinion yet, except that those screens that are taken from a compressed video where a magazine page was filmed look too blurry because of that.... hard to tell what the game looks like except the general art, which is ok, I guess.
Nothing very exciting but about what's to be expected from 1st gen next gen games.

Some compared it to "Condemned". If I have to compare also, I say this looks just that bit better than Condemned, and that's already from these blurry screens.
Besides, I haven't really seen much of Condemned, but the screens I've seen have looked a bit duller with more repetitive texturing and character design, but it's a different game set in a different environment so it's really not comparable.

I wait to see this in action, to see how's the animation and lighting before declaring whether this or Condemned looks better.

True, but im just saying, the first clue to gameplay is an HUD, for obvious reasons, most games have them. Otherwise you would have to see it in motion to get a second opinion unless the devs have told you beforhand that the game will be 'HUD'less'

As far as just going off the shots, they could just be a metal gear solid4 or killzone type FPS deal. See my point?
