The art style looks very much similar to FFX.
I was expecting a much different style based on that poster pic that was revealed months ago.
Hope they can invent enough new gameplay ideas, as it is the FF series are getting a little repetitive (imo)
Edit: Ok, now that Chryz resized the image to better fit the screen, my hasted opinion that was based on some individual details is changed a little. Now that I can see more of the art it doesn't look so much a FFX copy any more, it looks more 'industrial' or even a little 'medieval in a hight-tech sort of way'.

Me, I'm disappointed actually. Also disappointed that they haven't gotten over the "adolescent hero/heroin love story" fetish. And judging from the art, also disappointed that we'll probably be getting another protaganist of similar personality to what we got for FF9 and FF10. That makes it three in a role - I'm starting to miss the anti-social, depressive characters like Squall.

this game is gonna be awesome, and by far the 1st in my most wanted list until it comes out (which will probably be when PS3 comes out, since we're getting FFX-2 next frikking year, FF11 god knows when, and FF12 probably a year after the japanese version comes out -like they usually do-)

Um... FFIX was nothing like FFX.
IMO FF9 was more close in style with FFVII than FFX, I could remember wrong though.
Even so, there's far more RPG's (western) with those standard Dungeons and Dragons copy characters elf, warrior, dwarf, wizard etc... and the storylines in those games are often very similar to one another.
Maybe square are just making their own 'D&D standards'.

Now that I have your attention, ever considered this could be a hoax? A year or 2 ago some artwork was posted with claims that it was FF12 art. Turned out it was just edited art from FF8. We could be looking at the same thing here.

For one thing, the art looks extremely similar to FFX. Some very dedicated editing work can produce the 2 characters you see. Applies to the shots shown as well. In addition, it looks too different compared to the officially revealed artwork. Even MonolithSoft managed to secure a media blackout of Zenosaga2 prior to its official unveiling by simply not handing out any media. Little reason to doubt S-E isn't doing the same thing prior to their title's official unveiling.

Until proven otherwise, my opinion is that this artwork is a hoax.

Hmmm.. and that Chococobo rider on the upper left corner looks suspisciously like from that FMV in FFX, where the Chocobo army goes to war or something? ...and down left, it looks like Kimahri the Lionman slightly modified.

The first image looks real to me, as the style in Weekly Jump comics is like that (I am an One Piece fan, remember ? One Piece is in Jump almost every week).

More evidence that this is forged.

Click on the picture to enlarge it - look at the small characters printed under the FF12 logo. It says "final fantasy XI" in Japanese. The FF12 logo itself is also not right. All the FF logos have a stylised picture in the background. But the background picture for this logo is too hugh. its placement and size does not fit the usual FF logo design.

As follow-up to my most recent post, the FFXII logo you see was probably plucked from FFXI material. After all it is the easiest to modify - you only needed to add an "I" to the end of "Final Fantasy XI". But the artist forgot that all FF logos have the Japanese title in small characters below the english title, and did not modify that.

To me this is the final piece of evidence needed to deduce that this is forged.

EDIT: Whoops, enlarging the picture does show FFXII in Japanese.
Anyway, I'm not going to spend anymore time on this. The "forged" allegation still stands - until proven wrong.

Weird, when I first glanced over that picture, I thought I saw FFXI written on there somewhere, but didn't pay any more attention to it.
But there does read FFXII under the logo, did someone just change it after noticing the supposed mistake????

www.ff12.com announced there will be further news at the 19th of November. I doubt that the article scan is a hoax, but who knows ... as far as I followed the whole affair, the original source was the japanese BBS 2ch, so not really the most reliable source.

I'll check Weekly Jump tomorrow when I am in a book store, the posted FF12 scan should be the latest issue.

Ppl u cant decide on what graphics engine it uses from those small pics. Id still say however that fomr those pics it does look a lot slicker or smoother or something. I think the lighting looks better. Besides square did say i think that they are using a new engine for this. Also on their site it says that its got new visuals so im expecting something really good form this. Although i kinda was hopinng for a much darker ff game then ffx but meh it still looks good.
