Files-Aime talks a bit about Revolution

But for faraway object, scenery... you lose much detai, making for example a character standing some 100 meters away from you appear rather indistinquishable.
For face closeups and such, 480p will look just fine in next gen games, but for detailed scenery and long view distances the limit is real.
Idon't think that'll be an issue when we have true DOF :D

I think this time around the Rev. will be the obvious loser as far as graphics are concerned.
I'm sure you have valid reasons to come to that conclusion too.
Depends how many 360's/PS3's are being shown off on HDTV's at that point. ;)

You mean like how FFTSW looks so good at 480p? ;)

well comparing video to game engine is kind of retard...

You're missing the point...

I believe PC-E is doing his usual 'PS3 only looks good in prerendered CGI' routine ;)

Actually no.

I'm saying HD resolution isn't everything. If Revolution runs at a lower resolution then it might be able to output equal or even better graphics with lower silicon cost. ;)

Which I agree with - I'd take realtime FFTSW SDTV quality over HDTV Doom3/UE3 any day of the week. Except that next to an XB360 or PS3 showing on an HDTV, unless the visuals are much better on Rev, the lower clarity will be apparent.

I guess if they put a camera on the side of the controller, the camera lens would allow them to emulate a light gun. Just turn the controller on it's side and put your finger on a trigger, then your set to play Duck Hunt, Gumshoe, or Hogans Alley.

But you can get the same functionality from a Gyroscope, and a lot more.

My sources tell me that instead of joysticks the Revolution controller will have joyholes.
You put your thumbs in these recesses and move them inside the holes.
That eliminates the slipping that's too common in the today's thumbsticks.
These holes will also have a new kind of force feedback, in addition to standard vibration they can squeeze your thumbs, and even pop your thumb out to simulate for example you losing control in a crash.

joy holes seems like the perfect match for a game like DOA4....one has to wonder what demographic nintendo would be selling this to though :?

I just don't think this will hold true. It's hard for me to believe that the NR (which Nintendo themselves always say graphics are not that important) at a lower price and smaller machine will be just as good at graphics like the X360 and PS3.

I doubt that Revolution will have as good graphics as PS3 (I doubt 360 will as well) since its coming out at around the same time. But there's no reason that the system can't be competitive and certainly not obviously worse looking. Its been said so many times but Nintendo downplayed GameCube's graphics saying that "graphics aren't important", plus it was much smaller and cheaper then the competition. Yet its graphics were very competitive, so what's so hard to believe?

Also shouldn't this be in the Nintendo PR thread? (I told you Sonic, make the PR threads a sticky or people will forget they exist :)).

Totally agree, even a 6200 can run any (todays) game at 480 so sould be "very easy" to push the gfx up more the magic optimization for consoles and we get a very cheap and high performance.

That actually sounds kind of interesting, sexual innuendos aside.

...my thought, as well. Something just sounds "wrong" about "joy-hole". Maybe it sounds a bit too close to a "glory hole"? I don't think parents would particularly relish a console for the kids where the controller features dual "glory holes" for an enhanced experience. ;)

Nintendo said they wanted very fast loading times and DVD, there must be a very high reading speed or something else.

IMO, graphics like LoZ and RE4 look good enough to me, it's the games that count and how they play.

I expect the controller will look a little something like this:

Revolution will be stronger than Xbox360 I know that but exactly how much stronger is the question.

Can you elaborate more on the Revolution specs that you seem to know? If not please leave this board. Ignorant statements are not welcome here.

Revolution will have a 3rd chip called a VPA running at 500 MHz... ;)

The CPU will be a simple dual core variety running between 1-2GHz.
