Well it's 486MB so I don't think it's a trailer, but I don't have enough time to check it out now...

The graphics look amazing... for a while, untill you notice the animations. They are... robotic... or weirdly bird-like at best. It just doesn't look anything like boxing.

edit: (as this argument seems to have caused some heat, I thought I should point out that I did give my further reasoning at post #111 in this thread)

lol I love it. When this game was shown at E3 on the PS3 what did we hear? CGI! NO WAY THE PS3 CAN DO THAT!!!

But here it is, running on the 360. While it does look a little worse, it does look phenomenal. I guess sucky EA finally got a graphic engine right eh.

I think the animation is great, smooth and realistic. What more do you want?

Next-gen animation. I honestly think that the animation will be the same in the PSP version. I want a total next-gen expirence.

PETER MOORE: So without further ado, let's get it on by demonstrating the heavyweight power of Xbox 360 games pipeline. The upcoming blockbuster, EA Sports Fight Night Round 3 is the undisputed champion of boxing videogames. Now, for a game of this quality we need some world class fighters. And since we're in Las Vegas, we really need to do this right. So please welcome Al Bernstein, the host of one of the greatest boxing shows on television, both ESPN and Showtime, and a commentator of the World's Greatest Respect for the past 25 years. Please welcome Al Bernstein. (Applause.)

AL BERNSTEIN: Well, thank you very, very much. I am delighted to be here this evening. Ironically, just about two weeks ago, I was in New York shooting a whole sequence of shows that had to do with the Ali-Frasier trilogy and interestingly I'm going to get to participate in that very fight and those very fighters here that EA Sports has provided. And trust me, what I viewed in New York and what you're going to see is just as realistic, that's for sure.

Now, I've announced a lot of fighters in my day, but none exactly like the two that I'm going to talk about right now. First of all, in this corner, playing the role of Mohammed Ali, he floats like an MSN butterfly and he stings like a bee, let's welcome back a true heavyweight, Bill Gates. (Applause.) Can't wait to see your style, Bill.

And they're going to be playing this game.

Now, in this corner, playing the role of Joe Frasier, he's the sultan of security, and he's the prince of productivity, the Motor City hit man, Steve Ballmer. (Applause.)

STEVE BALLMER: Yeah, baby!

AL BERNSTEIN: Oh, wow, we've got some fisticuffs already happening, look out here.

All right, you guys are fired up here, I can feel this, I can feel it.

STEVE BALLMER: You've got it, you've got it. C'mon, Bill, 30 years I've been training for this opportunity. (Laughter.)

BILL GATES: You've got the weight on me, I give you that. (Laughter.)

STEVE BALLMER: Heavyweight division!

AL BERNSTEIN: Can we have a heavyweight against a middleweight, is that possible?

STEVE BALLMER: He could be a lightweight with all this weight he's been losing.

wow!

boxing games have come a long long long long way since this

Final Blow - the first boxing game I ever played

Hahaha and remember when we were saying to our parents "You wait, videogames are not toys, one day they will look real!!!"...

Sorry I must rant!

I've said it before and I'll say it again! The animation in Fight Night looks jarring to me. It's snapping between key frames and not transitioning fluidly.

Character animation is almost always the make or break point for me in a game. I don't care how good it looks in a screenshot. When I actually PLAY a game I sort of get this tunnel vision where I only really see or care about are the character(s) on screen. How they look is very important but how they move is by far even more important.

When actually playing a game, the scenery becomes background noise very quickly. It only has to be good enough so that it stays background noise and does jump in to the foreground and screaming something nasty to break your expereience.

COD2 is a good example. The game is stunning in screenshots. But the animation is only on par with what was in COD1. Hell it doesn't even have rag doll animations for corpses. Because the rest of the game looks so great, it really makes bad animation stand out even more. I feel the same thing about FN.

I wish EA would give them more time to actually address this problem. But with a demo already and everything. their codebase is probably already locked in and only modified for bugfixes.

Just maybe... for the ps3 version they will have enough time to implement a much better animation system.

quote from the interview of Richard Huddy:

So how about this one: can those E3 PS3 demos be achieved on Xbox 360?

Richard Huddy: Well, why not take another combative line here?
I think it's more likely that they can be realised on an Xbox 360 than they can be on a PS3.

It seems that he is coming true
