You guys took this way out of Context, we have a lot things to show, but we don't know yet which ones we should show and what ones we should keep to our chest until Microsoft reveals more. Hence, our presentation at last years E3 was said to be Dull and boring with too much talk and stats compared to Microsoft's.

Nirey, I personally think you are a fraud, but I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and thus suggestions nonetheless.

First of all, it doesn't matter about last year and specs - this is a new year and specs are 'hot.'

Second, you should spend some time actually GOING to some of these XBox forum sites, and learning what it is that appeals to the demographic of yours that Sony is 'losing.'

Thirdly, assuming you don't have any killer playable demos, show the best looking render sequences you possibly can.

At this point, what can Microsoft possibly do to change the specs of their console? You talk about keeping stuff close to your chest, well I say this: reveal info in every area where you have been behind Microsoft before, ie GPU info and online, state what your desired target Cell config is (and actually lowball that one if you can to impress further later), and give us an indication of how good looking the console will be (the unit itself, not the graphics).

To end, if this really is you're job, you're no good at it. I can understand where you are using this forum as sort of an ad-hoc focus group, but the truth is, if you spent just one week browsing the gaming forums of the web, the general sentiment would become plainly clear to you. For this I suggest making a 'fake' account, going to an XBox site, and posting the most Playstation fanboy type thing you can. You will be jumped on by hundreds of angry individuals in an instant, and their words will readily convey to you what they feel about Playstation and what they feel about XBox.

I think the tech heavy approach doesn't win gamers over. It wins the tech heads over. the real gamers are won over with lot's of interesting games. If Xbox 360 has more games or developer support, then it will do far better in the market place.

What Sony needs to show is one killer AAA+ title.
It needs to be a game that everyone can understand and see the potential fun in.
It has do stuff gameplaywise and graphically that hasn't been seen before.

In short Sony needs an answer to Mario, Zelda and Halo.

Sony and their 2nd party developers make great games, but none of them have the broad appeal and/or originality of the aforementioned titles.

Come on it's useless to reply to something like that.
This guy has totally unmasked himself with this thread.

I completely agree. It's embarrasing to know I myself gave a serious reply above, and it's embarrasing to see other people I respect give serious answers to this joker, though any number of these suggestions are good and true.

I just feel that for a fact, Sony is doing what they are doing purposefully, and are not 'mystified' like Nirey claims.

I'm really suspicious of this.

Are you a marketing person? If not, none of these questions should be of concern to you.

If you are...well, I just doubt Sony's marketing department is that lost.

Sorry, hard to believe someone actually working closely with how Sony is going to pitch PS3 would be this clueless. And something tells me what will be shown and what won't be shown is being controlled very high up..this will be Sony's biggest product unveiling, possibly ever.

I give my opinion to anyone interested in listening. he could be real, he might not be, what does it matter to you in the end? You had an interesting conversaiton with another human ;)

What's sad is that he could have asked those questions and gotten proper answers if he just did that without the need of pretending to work for Sony, which in itself is elementary school material.

QRoach believe me when I say that I have no problem with you giving your opinions. 8) I have nothing but the utmost respect.

This guy just rubs me the wrong way, especially after that whole 'will you guys do my cousin's project for her, and in return I'll give you top-secret PS3 info?'

Not only was that wrong to do in the first place, on so many levels, WHAT info? This guy is not who he claims, that's for sure.

"Microsoft has really stepped it up and really is taking this and that from Sony, like the recent Forza, Halo 2, Jade Empire, stealing Exlcusive games and developers and the press and gamers more interested in Xbox, the next xbox, and their games respectively instead of consumers going out and buying a PSP or PS2 and games like God of War, or GT4"

Also this is simply a bunch of lies,GT4 has sold 6 million copies worldwide,God of War has been a top seller in March in Usa,PS2 is the January-March period has umiliated Xbox at retail.PSP has sold really well at launch and its software is selling even better. Also Sony is gaining a lot of support for PS2 in this period, also exclusive like Soul Calibur 3 and a lot of developers instead of making next gen games have decided to continue to develop only for the current consoles (which in my opinion it's a sign of support to Sony's strategy and timing for the next gen).

Hey guys, my team and i really want your feedback on this subject. Basacially, we want to know if you guys feel that Microsoft has really stepped it up and really is taking this and that from Sony, like the recent Forza, Halo 2, Jade Empire, stealing Exlcusive games and developers and the press and gamers more interested in Xbox, the next xbox, and their games respectively instead of consumers going out and buying a PSP or PS2 and games like God of War, or GT4

So, You the insider, are turning to a bunch of forum techies for your 'insight' in to whats going on in the industry. YOU the sony marketeer, the company thats is world famous for leading edge marketing ability, are turning to the kids of B3D !! ??

I can just picture it now, the executive marketeers of Sony sitting round their meeting table.

'We need help, yes we need some tips, OK what we should do, is get Nirey to extract info from the kids at B3D, Thats sure to get some answers that could help our team to fight microsoft.. !!!

Perfectly agree, but what is the sense of claiming he's a Sony PR and then throwing a bunch of opinions that only an extreme Microsoft/Xbox fan could have? Also asking for suggestions as if our opinions could be a feedback for Sony is just making fun of all the users that wanted to reply seriously.

I don't think ms is stepping it up , I think halo 2 and jade empire were last burps of projects on the xbox as gt4 was on the ps2. I believe both companys are now shifting fully into next gen systems .

I'm sure he would have got even better answers if he said that his team was some rad' stuff like the ATeam, or something.

I just love it when a joke charater plan comes together!

I dunno, they didn't need one for PS2. There are lots of fun titles on the console, but there isn't a game everyone must own for PS2 imo.

hey, IMO, what this Nirey person is saying about Sony being unsure about what to show at E³ is completely believable, IMO..

.. after all, Nintendo's chief of PR stated that Nintendo was not sure what to show @ E³ , either:
When the subject of the Revolution arose, Toyota said, "E3 will be the starting point for the Revolution. [We haven't decided] whether we will show the real machine, videos, or unveil the concept. ... We want to receive some level of evaluation, but releasing too much information is also another issue. We don't have the slightest intention of making a machine that follows the same path as conventional game hardware. Right now, we are thinking of how we can accurately convey to people at E3 the different path that the Revolution will take and how it will change the way that games will be enjoyed."

I believe if sony wants to really shut microsoft up, then all sony really has to do is show a 1:30-2:30 min video of an exclusive(Exclusive like MGS3, meaning not going to be on any other console). MANY ppl want to see waht Konami would be able to do next generation. Find the right balance of specs and games. Dont go off talking about CELL for another 2 hours when we know alot about it now. Well, talk about the PE more and what configuration(s) will be available to consumers. Show some stuff that we wouldnt expect. Like KILLZONE 2 for PS3...Many ppl know thats its for ps2 but surprise us. Oh, and dont go off cancelling ps3 revealings. Ummm, if you want to shut down sony...and you have "alot" of things to show(at least thats what you said) then why not go out on a limb and show what you have? Let the ps3 be playable... :) I have other ideas and other games that should be showcased, but i will post them later.

And oh yea...if Sony still doesnt know what all their going to show at this late in the game...that makes me go :?

EDIT: OHHHH, why not show the Dev tools that developers will be using. You know, the ones that Sony says will make the CELL less difficult to work with. Once developers aren't afraid of Sony systems...(I.E. PS2) then maybe they will be more likely to flock to it. Also...get a real Online service going and showcase that at E3. Microsoft is like your best friend when it comes to what ppl want. Sony is like the guy across the street that you say high to every now and again.
This is not true for me but overall i think its true.
Ummm, why not give away some stuff like microsoft did @ GDC, i bet that would get some ppl going.

This was from a few months ago now. I've no doubt there are still some things which are not fixed, but I'd say they've a good idea now of how the unveiling will look generally.

And it's not so much what he's saying about not being sure what to show..it's really the rest of it, and how he's saying it.

I think he's having a laugh, to be honest. The earlier "do my homework" thread was in hindsight taking the piss also.

About PS3, btw, there was a comment on it from a guy at Sony France. He said:

"Sony representative also comments on Playsattion 3: 'we will make a lot of announcements regarding Playstation 3 in mid may at the E3 expo in Los Angeles.
PSP sets the tone what Playstation 3 will be, with a convergence even stronger between games, movies, music and broadband internet. Playstation 3 will have a higher storage capacity. It will be a home entertainment server for the masses and easy to use. With Playstation 3, we will finally leave the market of pure gaming console to join the consumer electronic market. It will take the place of DVD and VHS under your TV."

If marketing is what you do, Nirey, then look and learn
