Ah, thanks l-b. I have a follow-up question if you don't mind. From what I've read the VGA adatper seems to be specific to every region. I'm currently split with a Jp and US PS2... I have plans to mod one and end the insanity, but I haven't so far... do you know, by chance, the difference between Jp and USA adapters?

Nope sorry! I thought they were all the same... I have one, not sure what region it is, but it works a treat for those games that support pro-scan and even many others that dont but are rendered at full frame (most games released in the last 3-4 years)

What people call PAL60 is not a standard at all, and never was. That it even works at all is most likely because TV manufacturers unified their production lines so that pretty much all models accept either PAL or NTSC frequency input (because it made building them cheaper); in the early days of TV, the vblank was locked to the frequency of the national power grid - hence the reason for choosing 50 or 60Hz in the first place.
I know all that, but there still is a 60Hz PAL standard. I looked it up, it's called PAL-M and is used in Brazil. It also uses a color carrier frequency near the NTSC one, but with the PAL encoding scheme.
