I honestly don't that by one platform he ment "one platform". I think he was refering to an api standard for consoles so that as a developer it wouldnt matter what consoles you we're programming for you would not be porting it over. And guess what we already have that today and it's called a PC. So the way I would see this work is if you would have different manufacturers conforming to this API but putting in their own hardware and optimisations. Consoles and PC's a merging more and more every gen, soon enough you will just have your screen and a giant pipe to some ultra compting farm, where you will pay for processing power rather than actual hardware. Ahh the future will be great.
