Well, whats' the real point of regional coding for console games, and DVDs and everything else...? :D

Any info or even rumours as when the PSP would be finally released in Europe?
I'm this close to buying an iPod if it doesn't come here before May.

Will be here long before May. Apparently March. Apparently.

"X" claims maybe sony europe will go for a small europe launch of .............."150.000" units on 29april but probably will wait to until end may/june

sony anounced a few days ago that they will postpone the southkorean launch (that would launch on 24march like US) with 2 months. maybe they will coincide it with europe launch? 24 may? or or ........or .. nobody has a fucking clue to be honest :? ;)

Regional "good behaviour".. ie regional censorship? (America = no naked tits, Germany = no blood)

Errmm and u need regional coding for that? Besides, what's not shown anymore? I think movies released either side of the pond show the same amount of skin, guts and blood.
If one country can't show tits, then their internal censorship system will cut out the incriminating bits.

It's all about money in the end and exploiting the public, there is not one reason to justify regional coding. There is not one reason why Australia or the UK (just one example) should get movies months after the US, apart from PAL conversions issues. Same for games.

There are countless movies which are minutes shorter in the German Version - or altered in other ways. For Games the most horrible example would be the first Half-Life: Shooting humans is bad, so the German Version just replaced all Soldiers you fight later in the game with robots - instead holding conversations they would just beep.

Different content is IMHO the only logical answer to regional versions.
Getting more money would be another, but I dont know how this would work. Are people importing Movies to see them a few months earlier and then also buy their local Version later? Dont think so.

Just to avoid misunderstanding - I would be a very happy person if regional coding would go away today.

Edit: Just thought of it and since whole Europe is 1 region this would make lill since

He meant Europe, Region 2, is ONE region, as a whole. So his Germany argument made no sense. :D

Sorry, my bad... My brain is clogged by quantum statistic atm, so I, the unfailable god, am prone to making mistakes. Sorry

Anyway I don't care about wether I can import from the US; japan is important for me though...

IF you want an mp3 player then buy the ipod . You'll get it now and you'll get a much greater capacity . While it wont play games , it will hold many more songs , get better battery life and end up costing you less .

Then buy a psp in april or a few months down the line

Look at the Creative Micro. MUCH better sound (imo) than the iPod (mini). Interface is NOT as slick (and sometimes annoying) but the better audio quality is a decent trade off for me. Oh, and it has a FM radio if you want that feature.

Region codes allows publishers to keep different prices for different markets. Games are cheaper in North-America than in Europe, I quess Europeans are willing to pay more or something. In the end, it's all about money.

I quess Europeans are willing to pay more or something

replace willing with MUST

new gba games are released at 45euro here> that's 59us $ for example

with the current low us$ i guess it will turn out cheaper to import games even if you add up postage

Canada or Australia is still cheaper to import from, that is if the dollar doesn't drop even further...
