I can think of very few things I wouldn't prefer to pointless physics shenanigans to be honest. (it was a pure annoyance in GTAIV and RDR actually. Steering a character through a door shouldn't be a tricky ordeal)
That has nothing to do with Physics in games and everything to with Rockstar not rigging up their animation system well with the character control.
And besides... with RDR it was a non issue.
Physics affected driving in GTAIV was what made that game for me. I LOVED speeding around the city in a fast car in that game.
Fun with physics in games is awesome ;-)
