Elden Ring [2022-21-01] [PS, XB, PC]

Gotta get me some moonveil. I sadly? haven't found a lot of things. Without these guides etc, I'm pretty sure I would have missed a lot of stuff. Like at this point in time, I think I would have given up on mage without a guide showing me a meteor staff and rock sling. To have to go that far to find something to be effective at Raya Lasa Academy, because glintstone magic is all resisted here.

Gael Tunnel. Just remember to take the other door next to the Boss entrance. It leads to a second entrance where you can easily access the boss battle and save your health portions.

However you seem leveled enough to easily take on a Magma Wyern or whatever they are called.

I have taken out 2 dragons so far. It’s been okay as long as I’m on horse back. Struggling with Queen right now.

Elden Ring Ray Tracing Will Give Graphics a Shine in Future Updates - Push Square

"Bandai Namco has confirmed that the game is set to receive ray tracing at some point in the future. "Timing for the implementation of ray tracing, which is planned to be supported after the launch, will be revealed in future announcements," read the patch notes.

Presumably this will only be coming to current-gen hardware like PS5. There's no hint of exactly when ray tracing will come to Elden Ring, or how liberally the technique will be applied."

Given the state of RT so far let alone on consoles let alone Ring's performance issues, I would expect little to nothing.

At the same time, I’d love From to somehow partner with a studio who can build their insane ideas and designs with more tech knowhow, and of course a totally new engine!

I do wonder, if this is an easy task at all. I have to say that in a From Software game there are so many gameplay elements/systems working perfectly together nowadays and these many functions are so finely tuned that I am scared that a complete new engine will introduce a million bugs (see the new BF for instance).

PS: I still wonder, how Bluepoint did the DS remake and I salute them that they did take care of keeping gameplay systems 100% the same (I read somewhere that although they changed the looks of the animations, they extra made sure to keep the animation frame times etc. consistent...up to keeping exploits/glitchese and bugs, lol).

Well I’m fairly sure that if bluepoint could keep the flow and timing of the animations, but use models and environments with 10-100x more geometry, then From could too, if they had the interest. They clearly have the resources now with the tens of millions of people who bought Elden Ring.

Apparently there are some caveats to dual wielding. Normally dual wielding requires two weapons of the same type. Except you can dual wield with a katana and a wakizashi in your off hand

Gotta say, i expected more :)) Seems the guestimate based on steam CC numbers was off this time. The game will probably settle around 25 million lifetime. Maybe even 30 million ?

Yup, I'm guessing either not as many people have their profiles hidden as SteamSpy believes, or that people without hidden profiles were more likely to buy the game than people with hidden profiles (probably mostly playing "adult" video games :p).

Sounds low? Weren’t there 20 mil concurrent players just on Steam the other day or did I read that wrong?

That was SteamSpy estimates of ownership which calculates ownership based on how many people with public profiles own the game modified by estimates on their end of how many people have hidden profiles who might also have purchased the game. This is a good example of why those should always be taken with a large bag of salt. :)

Peak concurrent players on Steam is still ~950k.

Also, according to SteamCharts, the game has been played almost 240 million hours on Steam now. :p To put that into some perspective, according to SteamCharts, Dota 2 has been played a little over 319 million hours on Steam. I'm not sure how they calculate hours played, though. I don't think those numbers are as easy to get as concurrent players.

Ok, I watched a video on how to break Elden Ring and make it too easy by using the Sword of Night and Flame and the Hoarfrost Stomp Ash of War on another weapon...well, I feel kinda ashamed that I am exactly running this setup and crushing through bosses

I heard sleep is the new thing though...will try it out for sure

There are lots and lots and lots of ways to "break" the game. For instance, I run a build that has basically infinite FP (not the time limited infinite FP from flask usage) for world clearing as long as I use a low FP ability that can hit multiple enemies.

There's also builds where you'll regen health faster than enemies can damage you as long as you can attack relatively quickly. There's a build that will basically kill things in less than a second just by standing next to them. There's a modification of that build which gives you an infinite cast ranged weapon art.

There are so many different combinations of weapon abilities, trinkets, and spells that it just takes the right combination to make a "broken" build.

Then there's bugs that can be exploited like the ones that will turn off Boss AI in some fights.

It's a really big game with a LOT of complex interactions. Far more than most games on the market. What will be interesting going forward is whether we'll see From Software start to rebalance (nerf) many of the weapon arts and spells in order to try to more evenly balance weapon and spell power across the range of weapons and spells available in the game.

Glintstone dragon is a PITA.

can’t run away from its crystal shard attack. Can’t hide behind a wall either. So I have to be on foot to roll?

Patch notes for those interested.

BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America - News | ELDEN RING - Patch Notes Version 1.03

A good first start. Out of that Hoarfrost Stomp was the only nerfed ability I was really using and it really needed some adjustments, it was incredibly overpowered considering it only used 7 FP. In a moment here I'm going to see how it was adjusted.

[edit] Looks like damage was roughly halved. Maybe a very slight over nerf, but I will have to play some more and see. Regardless, it seems more in line with its FP cost now.

SB
