DVR drive recomendations?

I have 3 NEC 2500A's, have burned more than 400 DVD-R's, with not a singe coaster....that wasn't my fault. ...... at $72.00 delivered from Newegg ATM, it's a no brainer. If you are interested, a gentleman named Herrie does a really great job with firmware....I run just about all 4X DVD-R's at 8X. Haven't tried the dual layer bios...and probably won't. However, IF you need or want dual layer, Newegg has the 2510A's for $88.99 delivered! Both drives cost less than 100 high quality DVD+/- R's did 2 months ago!

One note, NEC 25xx series really sucks at ripping...in most cases doesn't work at all!

(btw that LG isn't the newest model - that would be the GSA-4120B. Can do 12x +R, 2.4x +R DL, 5x (instead of 3x) RAM. Haven't seen a review of it though, just because the predecessor achieved good burn quality doesn't necessarily mean this one does too)

I don't know about the newest LG model, but I can heartily recommend the 4040 and the 4081. Both are very reliable at burning CDs and DVD+/- (with all kinds of media), read almost everything, are very solidly built, and are the quietest drives I've seen...erm, heard since my good ol' 2x-CD-ROM. The only downside is the software that comes included (B's), Nero is far better.
