Doom [PC]

I don't know when but Doom was patched to support Vulkan 1.0.13 from 1.0.8

Disabling vsync actually works now :)

I just got this an Amazon for under 20 and stated to play it. First game since dishonored. Don't play as much as I used to. My gtx 750 struggles a but but it is fun.

Well I finished it and had 2 secrets and 3 challenges to find. The power went out... Game save was corrupted. I like the old system where I choose to save and I choose to alternate slots so this doesn't happen... It was a lot of fun, but that soured the experience for me a bit.

Yup, the save system is the entire reason I still haven't bought the game. The single player sounds like a blast and I'm sure I'd love it. Up until I ran into a situation where the save system screwed me over at which point I'd blow a gasket.

Halo Wars 2 is the same way and it is absolutely infuriating, especially when trying to go for achievements and bonus/secondary objectives. With a proper save system you can save before trying something risky. Without, you make one small mistake and you have to redo the whole entire F-ing level.

I hate consoles sometimes, I really really do.

Regards,
SB

Are you running Win10? If so, did you enable file history? Can you right click the affected savegame file and restore a prior version?

After literally years of me trying to convince my wife that Doom is fucking amazing and she'd love it, all the while her telling me she knows what she likes and that's not it, I finally managed to convince her to try it tonight (now that she's completely out of games to play).

Funnily enough, she thinks it's amazing....

well, I am currently playing Doom Eternal and in some ways is a better game -rhythm wise-, but I prefer the first one, it wasn't as hectic. They got it right in Doom Eternal in regards to the story though, like Carmack said once...-something along these lines- "the story in some games should be like the story in porn movies, it's there, but it's not important".. Doom Eternal is one of those, the story in Doom 2016 was a bit denser.

I hate the parkour in eternal there was one jump I couldnt make I had to use a trainer if it wasnt for that I would have had to stop playing
I aslo have Doom 2016 (havnt played it yet) hope its not dependant on jumps

same here. It's the lowest point of the game imho. And it makes no sense in a Doom game. Doom 1 and 2 had some tricks and stuff that you could only pull off if you knew where to run but it has nothing to do with the series, nor it is innovative. In that sense you might like the first modern Doom better.

Doom Eternal though has certain height drops where I could feel actual vertigo -I use 110 pov if that matters-, as if I was there

I had no problems with that aspect of the game, but yes, you have to know how to do these jumps and it took me a while to figure them out (like many deaths ;D)
