Ilfirin makes a really good point. I read that as meaning that the R350 is going to insure that nvidia doesn't take the performance crown back while ATI is working on getting the R400 out. I imagine that they either expect that the R350 is equal or superior to the NV35 or that they will have the R400 out by the time the NV35 hits.

Ati is confident to maintain the performance leadership until the end of the year. How? With "it", which is the R350. But well, it's already been discussed before, so stick to yours interpretations.

Nevertheless, it would be great to see the R400 this year!

]They are releasing "Something" in the Second half. And it will more than Doubble the performance over the R300 in some areas. However it is not the R400. At least not the R400 that was initially slated for Release in August that everyones been rumoing about. Its something different. Even if the Final chip name ends up being R400 (which i doubt).

I know it souds silly but could it be a R350 Maxx?
Or a Tile rendering architecture?

Well if the nv35 is slower than the r350 then the r350 will insure them the highend even if the r400 comes out. Because it was the r350 that beat the nv35. THe r400 is just icing on the cake and doesn't need to insure them anything

Well that's not what the quote says. It's says that the R350 will ensure it and they hope it will (against Nvidia) but it will be the top performer in Ati line.

As for R400, if what you say is right, they don't know when it's coming out?

Bottom line: We don't really know what the hell he meant wrt R400 coming out this year or not.
