Definition of 'CGI' *spawn

Computer Graphics Imagery, I think we used to call pre rendered graphics that or FMV (Full Motion Video) when talking about games.
It changed with times though.

So what if a texture is derived from a real world photo? Does that mean there is "live action" (or "practical effects" in a video game? o_O

Then there is the next frontier, AI (or Computer) generated computer generated images. :runaway:

Can we just go back to using FMV. I miss all the hype around FMV, as a child of the 80's. Those were the days.

Isn't this back in terms of interactive movies?

FMV was anything that used Full Motion Video, whether cutscenes or cinematic gameplay. I don't really know what the 'full motion' applied to, whether full screen or 'full length' as opposed to a second or two clip.

The first Resident Evil on PlayStation boasted FMV but the only bits I recall were was the intro before the game started.

I remember being amazed to be able to move my 3d characters in some ffvii and ffvii cutscenes that would trigger from the game backgrounds.
Or even time commando.
There was also a pc game like that, megarace i think.

This. FMV was still used as a term, I think, all the way up to FFX. I think. I just miss those days!
