at 32 Gflops. Am I missing something here? Someone please explain.
ps2 .25micron... ps3 65nm... 5x perf increase?!?

They are not. CELL is a customized version of Blue Gene/L. There is a good reason why Kutaragi put Blue Gene in his presentation, it's the father of CELL.Cell and Blue gene are two totally different projects

So are you saying that CELL will come out 1 to 1.5 years and be approximately 5 to 30 times more powerful per chip? Because unless that's what's happening I find it hard to believe that PS3 will be performing in the 320 Gflop to 1 Tflop range.
aha.Paul said:It's been in development since 2001.
I assume that you're trying to say that it's slated for production on the 65nm node.Paul said:It's being produced on 0.65 micron;
Which means exactly nothing in and of itself.Paul said:billions have been thrown at it.
I agree with the "big", though the words trailing the "big" will be much more interesting.Paul said:It's something big whatever it turns out to be.
