Nice pic, Patsu. Really looking forward to this one. I thought Demon's Souls had a great look, but I actually think the art in this one is even nicer.

Apologies To Whoever I Played Dark Souls With, I Summoned Monsters In Your Game

Namco Bandai gave the Pyroclast another "ability" or perhaps I should say special item. In the E3 demo, the Pyroclast had an item that allowed him to curse another person’s game. The effect is similar to changing the world tendency in Demon’s Souls, but it only affects a single player chosen at random by Dark Souls. An immediate effect are larger mobs instead of a few enemies that attack cursed players. Cursed? You can break the hex by finding the item the other player dropped in your world.

Before i knew what the item was for, I used it and probably made someone else’s game even more difficult. But, revenge is a dish best served cold in Dark Souls. A few minutes later someone else playing Dark Souls must have used the same item. All of the sudden my game was full of pink zombies that mercilessly tore my character apart forcing me to restart at the last bonfire I visited.

There is one thing I'd love to be able to do in Dark Souls. To be able to invade the game of someone who left a "I'm in trouble.... Please recommend this message" message. Those things are everywhere in Demon's Souls. Killing those players seems like to best way to help them. :devilish:

I'd go after those guys who left "Newbies should go this way" message on booby traps. Fooled me once.

And then followed by "Behind you !!!!" when there's nothing there.

Whelp, I knew something was different when I saw the first blue-eyed knight. Didn't bother to tackle the red-eyed one because I had developed a sense of danger/alert by then. By the time I heard the first dragon swoop, I could almost smell the burnt air because I was so focused in the game.

I remember that entire weekend, I lied to my kid and wife ("Daddy needs to work"). Brought food to the office and grinded through the game. ^_^

That "new Demon's Souls smell" experience was very very special.

According to news from Japanese magazines, retaining your humanity will be a key part of Dark Souls. When you die your humanity is lost. It sounds like this how Dark Souls will shift players between phantoms and physical forms.

Dark Souls, like Demon’s Souls before it, will have a world where you can see other players online. They will appear as phantoms and some may try to harm your character. Hostile players appear red and have a new trick up their sleeves. Red phantoms can hide in a coffin and ambush another player.

In danger? It’s possible to summon NPCs in Dark Souls when you’re offline. We’re still looking for more details about this last note.

And the winning Dark Souls shield is...

From Software held a contest last month asking players to submit designs for a shield which would appear in the upcoming Dark Souls. Today, From announced the winning submission.

This is "Sanctus," submitted by Uru.

(It.... looks like a shield for kindergarten field trip ! I wonder what special power it has.).

Uru's design was one of 1,000 submissions. Here are a few submissions that From deemed worthy enough to show in its press release today.

I like the way magic works in the E3 demo. The MP bar is gone, and instead you get a fixed number of each spell. Like the health items it can be replenished at a bonfire, but doing so will also respawn the enemies. If it can't be replenished otherwise, that should force players to use them more tactically. No more spamming magic.
