I've created a new character. (Still haven't finished the game with my old character) I'm going for a strength/faith build this time, and I'm enjoying so far. I've started with the Cleric class this time. The Mace that come's with it makes for a surprisingly good weapon. B in strength scaling, and great for staggering.
Progress has been pretty easy so far. I've just killed first boss that provides decent challenge, the Gaping Dragon. I'm playing by different rules this time. I'm summoning all the NPC phantoms, killing all invaders, and generally doing as much as possible as can't be done within a single play through, focusing on things I haven't done before.
I've already fallen back into old habits, i.e. doing a whole lot of everything but not really moving forwards. That includes helping other players and buying too much stuff I don't need with the souls get form killing bosses again.
There is a huge divide in the people playing Dark Souls, and it's easy tell which you are dealing with. It's either the complete novice who charges ahead into every situation, and seems to make every mistake there is to make. Or the players that know exactly what they are doing, and have managed to get a hold of some of the best gear there is to find at a very early stage in the game.
I really like the Gargoyle boss fight because after helping someone defeat them and being send back to my own world, hearing the church bell ring a minute later still brings a smile to my face. There really is an elegance to Dark Souls' mechanics that is rarely found in other games.
