Dark Souls

I have a gut feeling that the giant knight with the Havel armor is gonna one hit kill you as well, no matter your equipment loadout.
It also depends on the way you distributed your skill points. I don't know about you, but in Dark Souls I pumped way more points into vitality than I did in Demon's Souls since there are comparably few weapons in Dark Souls with really high skill modifiers.

Demon's Souls caps my life @ half and I don't wear Cling Ring. The Nexus structure is also harder to get to.

Harvel almost killed me, but it also can be cheesed. Just stick close to him. Collision detection will usually move you safely to his armpit position when he swings. You'll avoid his attacks as long as your shield is up.

In Demon's Souls, it's the reverse. The bosses can be cheesed easily. Now that all my bosses are done, there are only the grunts and the Old King left. You know how the Old King rolls. I don't dare to approach him yet.

Something feels different. The main character seems buffed up and aggressive, like he's a bad *ss. I see this heavy breathing animation common in other games. The Soul warriors I met all look frail. I don't remember the breathing animation. ^_^

I've started playing Dark Souls again. And I've purchased the DLC. After quite a few attempts I finally defeated the Sanctuary Guardian. It's nice having a challenging fight so close to a bonfire.

I actually liked how Demons Souls was so conservative in art style. It felt more real to me because of it. The colours so far I have seen from Dark souls are very strong and contrasting. I like both, but I like Demons Souls better overall as a game and artistically too.

I suspect the game prevents you from grinding the guardian by
spawning 2 guardians side by side after you beat it the first time. [shake fist]

They didn't spawn after defeating the Sanctuary Guardian. Maybe they spawn later?

Also
a mushroom asked me to save a princess. Am I going to be fighting a giant turtle as the final boss?

Just defeated Artorias.
Another challenging fight. I love fighting a good melee boss.

Oh, I didn't realize that. May be after I beat the final boss ?

Nope, lol. Why a
giant turtle ? I killed the giant mushroom during my first playthrough. Thought she was an enemy. :)

Yap !
The remaining bosses are more difficult IMHO. Had to summon for help.

You know
like Super Mario.

I wondered why that mushroom didn't have any arms, so I approached it care fully. Then turned out to be a friendly NPC. She doesn't seem to have anything use full.

I may have messed up something else.
That woman that appears after defeating Artorias asked me for his soul. I wanted to know what else I could do with it, so I said no. Now she seems to be gone.

Haha, yeah
I let her live in my second playthrough. She only sells mushrooms ? I don’t really need ‘em.

I killed Lordran (Artorias’ girl friend) in my first playthrough. Got her weapons.

I left her alive in my second, and she’s gone too.

Btw, if you’re a collector, don’t forget to visit the merchant at the bottom of the Undead bridge to buy Artorias' armor set (since you have killed him).

Beat
Kalameet
for a second time. I am convinced this is the toughest Souls series boss. Most of the time, I couldn't lay my fingers on it coz it moves around so much. The angle and position were not right for a safe attack. OTOH, its attacks are devastating and sometimes cannot be blocked. It is the classic case for a phantom's job, but too few people leave their stones outside the boss' fog door. :(

I made few attempts to beat him and I simply can't - it is the only boss i didn't beat. Maybe it is beacuse I play with tank character or it's because I approached him for the first time in New Game +++++ where everything is quite difficult.

I could only defeat it with a phantom's help. We chugged through all 20 flasks, and had to use quite a few humanities to last. Basically I was the decoy while the phantom whack it from behind. Even then, I could see the phantom almost died on a few occasions.

Had to join in the fight when my flasks ran out rather quickly.

Couple more levels and I will spank him up with my greatsword of artorias, which at around level 220 is all of a sudden becoming useful :)

Getting owned by NG+ Four Kings. It's not as tough as Kalameet but I will need help. ^_^
Too bad no one leave their soul stone for New Londo Ruins. Switching to Miracle-based spells from pyromancy.

I am grinding at Darkwood Forest in Alvina's covenant these days. Getting summoned every 30 seconds or so. It looks like many high level players are still playing. They just move around the world. Lately, Oolacile Township has completely dried out.

I've created a new character. (Still haven't finished the game with my old character) I'm going for a strength/faith build this time, and I'm enjoying so far. I've started with the Cleric class this time. The Mace that come's with it makes for a surprisingly good weapon. B in strength scaling, and great for staggering.

Progress has been pretty easy so far. I've just killed first boss that provides decent challenge, the Gaping Dragon. I'm playing by different rules this time. I'm summoning all the NPC phantoms, killing all invaders, and generally doing as much as possible as can't be done within a single play through, focusing on things I haven't done before.

I've already fallen back into old habits, i.e. doing a whole lot of everything but not really moving forwards. That includes helping other players and buying too much stuff I don't need with the souls get form killing bosses again.

There is a huge divide in the people playing Dark Souls, and it's easy tell which you are dealing with. It's either the complete novice who charges ahead into every situation, and seems to make every mistake there is to make. Or the players that know exactly what they are doing, and have managed to get a hold of some of the best gear there is to find at a very early stage in the game.

I really like the Gargoyle boss fight because after helping someone defeat them and being send back to my own world, hearing the church bell ring a minute later still brings a smile to my face. There really is an elegance to Dark Souls' mechanics that is rarely found in other games.

The flickering lights glitch is back. You can see it here.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9_jcSyxOKY

Basically it causes particle effects to flicker on and off. Besides being annoying to look at it also effects gameplay. Items drops, for example, are now invisible. The pick up item massage still appears when you're standing right on top of it, but that makes very easy to miss valuable items.

Playing offline seems to make the glitch go away, but that's not the proper way to enjoy Dark Souls.
