Dark Souls

Sunbros are the best!! Praise the sun

I didn't learn that gesture in NG+. I much prefer the Black Maiden in Demon's Souls ! :devilish:
I guess Gwynevere is a distant second. :p

The funniest user message I saw outside her Chamber was:
Use both hands

Dark Souls PC petition gets Namco Bandai's attention
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-01-13-dark-souls-pc-petition-gets-namco-bandais-attention

Last week's Dark Souls for PC petition skyrocketed from 7000 to over 65,000 signatures in seven days.

"Damn you are amazing!" wrote community manager Tony Shoupinou on the Namco Bandai forum.

"I honestly wasn't expecting such massive support. My boss(es) even came to talk to me about this after it exploded all around the world. If you wanted to have the attention of Namco Bandai Games, now you have it."

...

Please, one order of Vita Dark Souls (and Demon's Souls) here.

I'd definitely buy the DLC if there is going to be some. I hope they listen to what fans want for any DLC additions. I also want to see things like de-leveling your character. Demon's Souls also supported that in some limited way.

I agree !

I am also tempted to start NG++ just because the Miracle merchant in my game died. I want to get Wrath of God for PvP. :devilish:

I hope it's kinda like an entire new area that's seamlessly connected to the existing world. There seem to be a few places where it would make sense, like that closed door at the Chaos covenant. I wonder how they would do new armour and weapons though, because it doesn't seem fair to use things not available to people who don't buy DLC against them.

Yeah, but I also don't mind if the designer go his own way to explore other strange ideas in the DLCs.

You're best off rolling a new character if you want to PvP because you're way past the SL120 limit. Also you could get 2 WOGs for PvP if you do NG+. You can easily beat NG+ and still be at SL120 and you could make a really powerful DMB/SLB strength/faith build.

I see the logic, but I love my current character too much. ^_^

I am also curious to see what other high level characters are up to these days.

I may start a brand new character, probably a female, later. May be call her Meg Whitman or Sarah Palin. :runaway:

Must be weird for other players to see "Larry Ellison has invaded your world" when I go PvP.

I've prolly rerolled at least 6 times to get a perfect pvp build. I'm currently reworking my strength build, working on a dex/int build and gave up on the faith/strength build lol. I wanted to use sunlight blade buff with my faith/strength build but you only get one cast and smart players will run away for a minute to wait for it to wear out lol

Wait... so the game uses the name you created for the character instead of your PSN username?

Why bother porting it over to the PC when they are just going to have dumb it down to appeal to PC gamers?

But seriously thought, it's probably a great idea. The game could do well PC, which in turn helps the franchise. Demon's Souls was conquering continents one at a time, and now Dark Souls can do the same for gaming platforms.

Hmm... I think the game will use my PSN id instead of my Dark Souls character name. One of the summoners sent me an XMB message to thank me after clearing Anor Londo. His/her PSN sender id is the same as the summoner's name.

It's not going well. First I lose 200000 souls and 28 humanity. Then I accidentally kill Priscalla before cutting off her tail. And then I obliterate the Firesage with one hand tied behind my back because he's weaker then all the regular enemies in the area. I've been careful not to get over-levelled, yet I'm still getting this.

Ha hah ! Sounds fun ! :runaway:

Is Priscilla's dagger that good ? I got it on second try but never wield it. Also killed her accidentally first time round. Firesage is ok. The next boss is more interesting, but if you're over-levelled like me, then it should be a safe fight.

I don't know if it's good, but it has good DEX scaling though.

I'm level 60 right now. I'm thinking of finishing up this area, then try to defeat Nito, Seath after that, and then the 4 Kings.

Painted World ? Yeah, not much to do there after you've killed Priscilla. Git your *ss back into the "real world" to clear the remaining lords. ^_^

Dark Souls Official Art Book Coming In February
http://www.siliconera.com/2012/01/18/dark-souls-official-art-book-coming-in-february/

Enterbrain plans on shining light on Dark Souls’ art. On February 29, the publisher behind Famitsu plans on releasing the Dark Souls Official Design Works for 2,520 yen ($33).

Details about the art book and how it differs from the item Namco Bandai bundled with the limited edition in the West have not been announced.

Aww.... don't be cheap skate. Do a real DLC for the game. ^_^

Isn't there supposed to be an NPC black phantom in the Painted World? I wandered around there (before killing Priscilla) as a human for a considerable amount of time but I never got it to show up.

Were you in human form ? I was told the BP will invade when you loot the graveyard on the right side of the Painted World.

I meant finish up the Demon Ruins. I probably should have put that more clearly.

Yes, he is indeed in the graveyard. If you kill all the regular enemies in that area he'll invade.

Went up against a turtle wearing full havel's gear in the Kiln a few nights ago. those guys are super annoying... No matter what he did he kept turtling so eventually I just started punching him with my bare fists lol

Dark Souls' grand vision
http://m.next-gen.biz/features/dark-matters-0

Speaking of memorable experiences, whose idea was it to have the Black Knight archers perched on the cathedral ledge in Anor Londo?

I think I was the one who placed that obstacle. I wanted to place some obstacles that people would remember and talk about. The archers can be poisoned, so if you hit them with a poison arrow and wait a while, they will die if it isn’t treated. Including these kind of cheap strategies, I want people to have fun with strategising.

...

Certain areas of Dark Souls – particularly in the New Londo Ruins and Blighttown – suffered from crippling frame-rate drops. Did the scope of some of these environments prove difficult to manage on the technical side?

Yes, there were technical difficulties. I don’t believe that it’s okay to have them, but realistically speaking, it was quite a large-scale game – even in terms of budget and expectations. So we’re very sorry for the trouble we’ve caused by our processing errors and bugs from Japan. It was a title that we haven’t really experienced in all aspects, so there were areas where we felt our technical side couldn’t keep up with the game’s scope, like an increasingly growing ache. I didn’t mind the growing pains. We accept the game as it is, and that it’s just a part of the learning curve.

...

Are there any discussions underway about making another game set in the Dark Souls universe?

We don’t even know if we’ll have another chance. We have the confidence that we can improve from our mistakes this time and create an even better Dark world, but we don’t know if the users will forgive us for the mistakes, so I cannot give an exact answer.
